An extra 12 months, I don't care what colour she is.

    Black would be good.

Excellent, now all we need is a black 'A4' with 'NE' on the tender. ;-)

Double heading with 44871 would be a fabulous pairing, pics of her almost complete are on the other site......

When 44767 was first restored in 1975 it was turned out in post-war LMS - its a shame it later went into BR black as it looked much more distinctive in LMS livery. It was, however, the wrong livery for its appearance, for back in post-war years it had a double chimney, which it lost in BR days.

An 8 month extension to the mainline boiler certificate has been granted by the HMRI and she is going to be in LMS Black.:D

The extenson to the Duchess' boiler certificate is 8 months not 12 monhs. However this will keep it on the main line until November 2010 when it will be withdrawn for a heavy general overhaul. Yes it will appear in LMS lined black for 2010 but where will it go ?

HMRI? Since when have they had anything to do with it?

If you are asking what tours will she pull, I expect with the new livery there will be no shortage of demand otherwise the owners would not go to the expense of a short term paint job just to satisfy a few photters. ;)

I suspect it will annoy as many photters as it pleases. One group offered to fund a repaint into BR green but the owners declined as is their right. They have now asked the same group if they'd like to fund the repaint into LMS black. Unsurprisingly the answer is "no." Have to admire their nerve though. :)
Whilst a green Duchess would be nice, LMS post war black hasn't been seen in quite a while,
particularly on the main line. At the end of the day it doesn't matter a jot, the important thing is we've all got another chance for some more Duchess thrash.

It's not, it's post war black. Is that what 6229 looks like under her frock or is it an exceptionally good bit of computer "repainting"?

That was a real paint job, done for 6229 project covenantors - and it was stunning! Not seen under the cladding, so don't know if it's still like that...

Has anything actually been confirmed with this loco or is it all just hearsay...?

Some people are talking as if an announcement has been made but i have yet to see one. The website of the trust so far says nothing about an extension... and if the news is true surely thats the best website to go by rather than random forum members saying shes got 12 months then 8 and everyone else believing that is what is definitely happening...

    Hello Kieran,

First of all I was responding to Cambrian55 who came out with the "12 months" then I have found out it's 8 mouths and she is going to be in LMS Black. The info is out, it's been published in the PRCLT magazine, The Royal Standard.
Can not comment on the website not being updated yet.

Well that's one I managed to miss. Was it on public display at any time in black?

It seems I misunderstood what my informant said, he said she has another 12 months before finally coming out of service, but the extension is only 8 taking us from the present expiry date to next November, sorry about that slip.

8 months or 12 months, it doesnt matter as a duchess in black will be very easy on the eye and make for a superb change, a cracking idea for whoever came up with it!!!

Sorry but it wasn't on public display in black, that was purely for the 6229 covenanters. But in answer to a previous post, yes she is still 'half red half black underneath the streamlining.
And just to start a real argument, how about if she ever made it back on to the mainline as a 'streamliner' how about turning 6229 out in her guise as 6220 in 'Coranation Scot' blue?
