Anybody know what the first generation DMU was seen on the back of a low loader leaving the RTC in Derby yesterday? It was green. Ordinarily I would have said it was the Class 117 Water Jetting Train but it had speed whiskers!

Re the inspection saloon comments, I dont know whether this helps or hinders, but in the latest SVR News the following appears:

" Members may recall the EWS inspection saloon which was restored on the SVR some years ago. It recently came up for sale and a bid was considered, as trade for our two existing saloons warrants having a spare, but it was felt that acquisition and restoration could not be afforded. However the purchaser has offered it to us and negotiations are in progress."

    Sorry no coach number quoted.

    46118

Edit: A trawl through several years "SVR News" issues failed to find a mention of when this saloon was overhauled on the SVR, and hence its identity.

It was SVR based at one time between mainline duties a picture appeared of it in the SVR news outside kidderminster north star works in the SVR news and also the picture on the VCT register shows it at Bewdley although according to the entry the photo dates from 1999 although I remember it being there later around 2005-2007 (the time it appeared in the SVR news). http://www.cs.vintagecarriagestrust.org/se/CarriageInfo.asp?Ref=4726

Rumour is that departure may be delayed as the low loader is reported to be stuck in mud at the WSR

D1035 (the NP Member, not the actual loco!) reports at least half the Thumper has gone!

Don't think the movement of Mark 1 E3805 from the NYMR on loan to the Derwent Valley Railway has been reported on here. Happened a couple of week ago - the haulier got it stuck on the A169/A170 roundabout at Pickering - a popular move, I am sure! A couple of wagons are due to go on loan in the same direction - don't know if they have already moved.

    CONFLAT A,s

Two CONFLAT A,s have been brought from the GCR (Nottingham), for the ever growing goods train at the MHR.. One is completely restored and will require only a re-paint and the other un-restored one comes with a complete list of spares and a few other goodies thrown in.

Due to arrive at Alresford this coming Sunday the 15th of November around 1700 hours.
    Regards
    Chris

2nd coach for the Thumper moved from Newbridge yard this morning.
I believe that another haulier had to be brought in due to delays to the original haulier.

    Hi Chris
Hopefully these will be 506889 (Needing some work) & 700471 (operational). Are you getting the AF container as well, 65716? It'll fit in nicely with the 2 at the MHR already.
    Cheers
    Steve

Regretfully no due to lack of space although the existing Conflats will be transferred on to the new ones leaving the existing lowfits to have more unusual loads.

Well it makes sense to use them for their proper role. What's the definition of unusual loads for the lowfits?
Wonder what Ruddington are going to do with a container and no conflat? I hope its safe, there are few of the AF's around now.

As I said Steve, we were offered it and the frames of another, however as hard as it is , one has to draw a line somewhere.

As for unusual loads?, how about tractors for starters?.

    Regards
    Chris

You'll never get a class 37 on a lowfit surely ...... (altho I spose its possible if its in 'post Booth's' condition).

I think Ruddington have little interest in wagons these days, due to the fact its almost all diesel and BR coaches when it comes to operations, I read somewhere that another wagon restorer from elsewhere has bought the container, which if its the specimin I once saw, it would be the contaminated one which was sheeted over.

Ex southern CCT moved from Chatham Dockyard to Sellinge sunday 21st March for storage and possible restoration
I am not sure what the owners long term plans are for this vehicle or where it is intended to go to once restored
