The 9F No. 92134 (re numbered as No. 92079) has been repaired overnight by our team at the MPD and will be hauling the 15:56 service from Grosmont.

An exhausting 3 days of riding, walking, and taking some shots. The Castles bark sounded great, and the T3 looked born to haul teaks. Fridays afternoon run from Levisham to Goathland with T3 at the head and Repton as banker was great fun.

It's probably the two teak coaches at the back of the Castle's train that are trying to hold it back.

The loudest loco I've heard ! Pity about the on-going leak. The T3 looked great on the teaks. A good day travelling on Sunday with all locos performing well. The evening climb on Friday by 4079 will live long in memory.

Credit to the railway and the volunteers - whatever other chaos is developing behind the scenes, this looks like it was a properly brilliant event. I'm sad to have missed it but so grateful for all the footage on youtube. 263 is a stunner - those early morning runs with the teaks? Lucky passengers. And 4079 just leaking buckets of steam. Incredible. Well done to all, especially for the lineup of locos put together. I won't miss it next time...

Why does 4079 seemingly leak so much? It's been like this since it was outshopped, so presumably it would have been fixed by now if it was simply a case of repacking a gland or tightening a joint. Is it intentional therefore?!

Leaks are rarely intentional. Sometimes with harder work a loco will develop leaks where there weren't any - viz Haulwen at Blaenavon this weekend. Some are esay to fix, others less so

I understand that but 4079 has been like this for years!

2999 is the same, and 6023 likewise before it. But 4144 and 5322 were ok.

Some of my pics from the Friday - this was my first visit to the Moors in a few years but was absolutely worth the wait, I had a wonderful time :D

I missed SNG as I didn't realise until the day that she'd only be on the Levisham shuttle, but hopefully I'll be back in a few weeks to see her :)

Not just a most fantastic gala - but an event with an atmosphere full of great sounds, sights, commitment and positivity all round. Well done to all that made this possible!
The video includes extended coverage of 4079 Pendennis Castle - more details in the video description.

We couldn't make Thursday till late so had thre days roving the rails, photo's from stations during run rounds and step downs. Trains ran increasing late each day, wouldn't be a gala if all ran to time !!
    Thanks to everyone who organised the event, thoroughly enjoyed it as usual. P1100409.JPG P1100410.JPG P1100412.JPG P1100413.JPG P1100420.JPG P1100425.JPG P1100426.JPG P1100434.JPG P1100436.JPG P1100439.JPG

Given the negativity surrounding the railway - especially in the general discussion thread on here. I felt the railway should be given some credit for what a success the gala was (or appeared to be from the busy trains/platforms), I've attended many NYMR galas over the years and this one is by far one of my favourite events that I've attended on the NYMR!

I agree that it was an excellent gala with a lovely buzz about the railway. For me there was only one star attraction, the elegant Victorian 4-4-0, No. 563. I was fortunate enough to be rostered on it on Thursday morning and it was an absolute dream turn. With only two Gresley teaks it romped up the hill to Goathland with no effort at all. It steamed well, rode well and you sensed that it just wanted to fly. Of course a dry sunny morning helped but the loco was a real credit to the Swanage Railway and the 563 Group who masterminded it reactivation. Having known it dormant in the NRM at York for the best part of 40 years I never imagined that it would return to Yorkshire one day and that I would get to fire it.

On Sunday I was on Lucie, a nice steady turn shuffling about Levisham station and watching train go by. 20260924_091604b copy2 copy.jpg

To my mind you can forget the rockstar engines (what a horrible phrase:eek:), this elegant old lady will do for me.
