It's still got the lower "main line" elliptical double chimney. Hopefully they'll paint it in BR green, rather than GWR livery, although if they've removed the smoke box door numberplate brackets, it does hint that GWR livery might be likely. I hope that isn't the case, a double chimney King only looks correct to me in BR livery. Just my views.

I think those images appear to come from an account on YouTube, who posted a YouTube short of the loco moving. Glad to see 6024 in steam again.

Personally I hope it does end up in matching GWR livery to 5029, because (in my opinion at least) the mainline scene needs a bit more livery variety beyond BR ones (5029 and 926 on the NYMR are, I think, the only non BR liveried locos main line operational and the latter is only registered for Whitby services). On a personal note I was only about 3/4 years old when 6024 carried GWR livery last time and would be a nice difference to 6023's BR Express Passenger Blue and 6000's BR Express Passenger Green liveries.

My experiences with Kings have been limited to just 6023 at Didcot once and seeing 6000 at York, so hopefully I can experience 6024 very soon. It'll be interesting to see how they arrange work for 6024 and 5029 going forward.

Very pleased to see this loco on the way back, the mainline has been missing a King - the ultimate GWR design. There was the disappointment of 6023 becoming heritage line only, & never getting to prove its new chimney draughting arrangement - 6024 has been away far longer than anyone expected. 6023 gave very brief glimpses of its potential, but ultimately was never able to get out of second gear.
Performance wise, I don't think 6024 has anything to prove in the south west where it still holds the Plymouth to Exeter record. In the right hands, 6024 was a match for any pacific.
In the north...well let's say she has unfinished business!!

    As I understand matters

60007 and 61306 will be at Bishops lydeard for the Riviera's and presumably northbound Marches
70000 and 71000 at Southall for tours with steam on from the London area
    and presumably
60532 and 34046 at Crewe for tours with Steam on from there

There was a suggestion (and I stress a suggestion) 5029 may go and have a stint of preserved line running over the summer

The $10000 question is where we see 6024 . Even narrowed I suspect will gauge close to a Castle which may be a limiting factor

5029 looked superb in Devon last summer and the dream combination is 6024 and 5029 working the Riviera's

Really was hoping to see 5029 or 6024 on the Rivieras this year

I see my post of Facebook regarding 6024 livery has caused a lot of stupid responses. Not sure why it's so secretive what livery she's going to be painted. Anyway can't wait to see her again hopefully soon

I don't understand why on the Steam Dreams website they say the locomotive that is expected to haul the tour, and then on the Saphos pages it just says from a pool including Royal Scot (which it definitely will not be!) for most trips, although does say 60532 for a S&C in July.

Yes those listed, there are others such as this weekend that 61306 will be picking up, and also it's possible to get info on 71000's tours on the Duke's website.

I see from a Facebook post that 6024 is planned to carry out running in on the Paignton and Dartmouth railway apparently in July, August. Not sure if this is 100% true but I hope so as I work in Paignton

    Regards Neil

Considering the common ownership between the two it would be hardly surprising.

Possibly, but what with their own locos plus those where they have operating relationships with 3rd parties (thinking 60007 & 71000 for instance) who I assume have some manner of agreed number of steaming's a year, I suspect that LSL possibly have more loco's than they have work for so some gentle mileage accumulation on an associated railway would possibly make sense.

Polished tyres, square panel lining on the cylinders, brackets for smokebox number missing - I think we're going to get full GWR livery

PM run :- This service was cancelled due to a problem with a steam locomotive (ME).
