I was lucky on one VT trip, finding myself at a table with only one seat. I would happily pay a supplement for that same seat on another trip, but they seem not to offer it. It's not that I object to company, just that having no-one opposite avoids the problem of where to put one's feet.

A table on your own sounds like my ideal railtour.

There definitely appears to be a market for it as a few others have mentioned this to me in times gone by.
Exactly, perfect thinking time as well.

Does anyone know the maximum number of coaches that VT have that could be on the train if all seats were sold out etc.? I have always thought that they owned 13 coaches but I have never seen more than 12 on one train at once. They have the GUV but that won't be used on this trip.

I remember on The Mayflower one of the stewards remarked that every operational coach at Tyseley was on the train, but I can't remember how many coaches were on there. YouTube should tell you.

I believe it was 12 on that day Nathan, so there is my answer. I did read in 2024 that the have aquired Mark 1 FO No. 3110.

Does anyone have an up to date fleet list?

The Friends of Vintage Trains website publishes stock lists (their own stock plus what is in the Works) which have just been updated.

Thanks, some good reading material there especially the Ray Churchill farewell to driving article.

Looks like eleven coaches plus the GUV at the moment with one coach under repair.

    Why not?
It is exactly the sort of thing I would expect a member to be able to point me to, as happened on the subsequent post, if I wanted some info about a Heritage railway or operator.

Is there a list of banned subjects I should be aware of?

Not at all, but it was at the end of a whole list of posts in a thread that is really about upcoming VT charters....

Can you point us to that article please. I have found Steam-in-Trust-issue-56 with an article by him, but that is about marriage, traction engines and hill walking.

There isn't an issue with posting it here I agree, and had someone else posted it I doubt that anything would have been said. This is the perfect places for asking questions given that this is a 'Vintage Trains 2026' thread and were talking about Vintage Trains in 2026...

As well as and email earlier, I see the website now features take two at a castle to Newcastle on April 11th. I'd like to do it, having booked York-Newcastle on the ill fated November trip but unfortunately there's quite a bit of uncertainty for me after February.

Saturday 30th May will be interesting. 2 charters operating over the Snow Hill line and down through Cheltenham to Bristol/Taunton - VT and Saphos. Both currently have exactly the same provisional return times for Cheltenham (21:25) and Worcester (21:5o).
