We are rearranging the location of equipment. Two alternators returned to Wirksworth from storage.

That green undercoat seems to get everywhere - I've seen it used on other diesel locomotives as well. Is there something special about it?

    It's good stuff - BR Spec 81 Anti-Corrosive Primer, sold by T&R Williamson. A snip at £80 a gallon.

It used to be good stuff...the last batch we bought (and it's not really Williamson's anymore - they're part of Thomas Howse and the paint is now made in Rowley Regis) went horribly wrong - as soon as the completed paintwork was exposed to cold weather it blistered. The adhesion was appalling as well.

Howse of course denied everything and said it was our fault, but we hadn't altered anything else, and we only had the issue where we used that batch of primer. I believe Betton Grange had the same problem.

Work on a traction motor armature. Cleaning the exterior end prior to painting.
