Some of the old faces still support the mainline steam movement; but the uncontrollable diesel on the back and Coffin stock severely reduce what we do. Even Vintage Trains run most of theirs trains with the dreaded box box on the back that frustratingly assists too often. It will be really something if 71000 is allowed to run without a tailgunner. LSL have run a few trains like it this year with Class 8s. Lots of fingers and toes crossed!!!!

Surely at this time of year the weather and the state of the rails must be a factor. Here's hoping for a lovely bright dry day.

I'm led to believe its a light load. Shap is generally tree free, apart from the final half mile to the summit.

Thought the original times were optimistic. What on earth can people who don't live in London do at Euston at 23.40? And now back in the dark as well.

Join at Milton Keynes perhaps, or bail out at Crewe and catch either the 20.32 or 20.46 Avanti services and get to Euston an hour earlier.

Likewise in coach F too, now last year when Standard was an option on all Saphos/Steam Dreams trips coach F was the buffet coach (the only standard class coach on the consist), have to wonder if that’s the same this time round

That's a thought. Good call. No pressure on LSL then for a RT arrival. :)

Maybe not rely on the 20:46 too much
    33 late at Euston yesterday
    25 late Monday
    81 late Friday

The other one which appears to be the 20:29 seems to keep better time.

Load 9 is what I've heard. Yep, coach F for us too. I'm guessing We're seven back from the business end.

I mean the rake could just be the standard Saphos set. Just because they are FO coaches doesn’t mean they can’t be used as Standard seating. Certainly last I heard was it was meant to be MK1s

Late at Crewe will be, for once, a good thing! :)

Had to book a 4+2 in First as didn't pick up the email in time to book Standard. We're in Coach E. If Liam's right about load 9, a guess at the consist is POB, Buffet, Generator Car, Brake, 4 FOs and 1 TSO.

Try after 1900/2000 when the uploads are processed from Train Planning Systems to Train Service Data Base and then extracted by RTT and other organisations.
It's some days before operation so it might be early next week when the schedule goes live.

    Cheers, Neil
