Class 802 failed in P1. TPE have sent a driver to try rescue it. Unsure quite when it’ll move though.

Apparently the stock is in a siding at Seamer and 44871 has just headed past it going Westwards so not sure what’s happening

I can imagine you’ll end up being put on a TPE back to Seamer and take it from there. Doesn’t sound like the unit blocking P1 is moving anytime soon

Sorry to say the obvious. We are talking about a Riley '5' that punches above its weight normally but today it has ELEVEN on plus a Class 47. On the flat I feel sure it can keep the train rolling but at any sign of a gradient it really would benefit from help. So, with respect, seeing it running downhill at Barton Hill is perhaps not quite the same as three miles further back climbing up through Flaxton.

That said, the TPE debacle has helped nobody at Scarborough and I feel sure that the single most important thing on the minds of WCRC is how to get the train together for its return.

Nobody can enjoy anything without you putting a damper on it can they!

Oh and I sign the Scarborough route so I know it’s downhill, but cheers for the gen!

So what would you suggest, the 5 has been working it's socks off all the way with yes some assistance but the cinders on my table in the buffet tell the story. No passengers have complained about the diesel so why can't you give up this perpetual harping on about full loads. Full loads pay reducing the number of coaches and therefore passengers do not.
The minds of the WCR staff know what needs to be done but without fingers being removed at NR we are going no where.
If the fitter sorts out the units brakes then a driver who signs that class of unit needs to be found, so far it's reported there isn't one about.

A driver was sent from York for the unit on the 1504. But as you say it needs to be fixed as well.

Could the diesel not bring the train back and the five continue to Scarborough and get turned then go back light engine or even on the back.

No because where we were at Seamer 44781 had to get to Scarborough first to get to the turntable but could not do this until the 802 had been fixed and moved. This has now happened and we are heading for Scarborough.

Well 44871 should be at the turntable now and we are heading back to Scarborough as to when we leave that's still an unanswerable question

Sorry but I actually wasn't trying to put a damper on anything just trying to politely say that 44871 had quite a load on today and I can be pretty certain that it was doing all it could to shift things along, especially given the driver who I believe was on the handle. But it will have definitely also needed a helping hand and there's nothing wrong with that. It is what it is, as they say.

According to friends at Scarborough it's 1730 away with steam leading, unaware if it has been turned though
