Seems the hopes of securing a replacement guest for the occasion has proven unsuccessful with No. 34081 (running as 34111 Royal Auxiliary Air Force for the weekend) now in the steam slot. Class 14 and 45 also joining the roster, with brake van rides and express freight workings also happening.

34111 (34081) is involved in a renaming ceremony to mark the centenary of the Royal Auxiliary Air Force so that takes her out of the equation for at least part of the day. She will be doing the fish and chips special in the evening.
The railway tried hard for a suitable replacement for the A1 but nothing was available at short notice.
If you must direct your ire at anyone, direct it at the A1 team for not having a loco ready v

Not the NVR's fault. Have a go at the A1SLT for letting the NVR down *twice* this year. And heed what @Spamcan81 says.

Call me cynical, but that's why I'd think twice about pre-booking unless I was absolutely 100% definitely going (or there was a finite number of tickets available). Same decision you make with advance tickets on the mainline or saver-rate hotel bookings - does the saving outweigh the risk?

I agree. I always pay more to allow hotels to be refunded in the event I couldn't attend and don't prebook tickets till I know I'm definitely going
