Lovely stuff :) There's something rather special about the Lydgate to Copy Pit stretch

Not much, if anything, can match that crisp and even bark of a well turned out black 5 working hard.

Should I have added 'deep' to the description?

Completely agree, Ralph; a proper gutsy sound, unlike some loco's (naming no names/numbers) ;)

What, those locos with efficient draughting that generates enough smoke box vacuum without loud noise? (Not that any British locos were as quiet as some French compounds.)

One can have the utmost admiration for efficiency without enjoying the effects as much.

Does that mean you would be happy to have something on the front that you can't even hear from an open drop light in the first coach? You might as well be in air cons if that's the case. ;)

I wish I could have added a sound track to my shot at Smithy Bridge, she was really digging in! :)

From that position I think even a 241P would be well audible.

Does anyone have any information about 35028's forthcoming test runs on 19 and 22 April, or is that posted elsewhere?

Looks like it - says "service loco runs round here" at Craigendoran. That's where the diesel usually goes on the back.
