Nothing spoilsport about it. It won’t be ready for general public traffic at that point, and they want it to be on their terms what train it hauls passengers on first. Can’t argue with that.

Whatever the colour, right or wrong, I can't wait to see 60532 running main-line: I've never seen it. Add in a rake of carmine and cream Mk. 1s... magic!

Briefly coming back to the subject of SVR locos, 7812 was in the yard on Saturday minus a tender. Can anyone give us an update on why?

7812's tender is having some spring hanger brackets replaced.

I think 813 has now cleared the jacks allowing 7812's tender to use them to replace the brackets.

Well, Blue Peter has arrived via low loader. I expect pictures to appearing from the usual sources shortly.

No lining out suggests to me that the blue is only temporary.

Not necessarily. When 70000 was run in a few years back, it's livery wasn't fully completed, so presumably 60532's lining and crests could be applied when back at Crewe or after mainline test running. It would be a bit odd to paint the loco Blue for running in, just to paint it green after.

I think 70000 made an appearance on MOTD in ‘economy green’ whilst it was at the SVR for running in.

Im told that the full paint job hasn’t been applied due to timing for getting it to the SVR and tested. Testing it was far more important, due to the limited time window in which to do it.

I believe it is to remain Blue, which actually I personally believe looks stunning

And if testing reveals something that needs taking apart, the paint job won't be ruined either - very sensible to me!

That was the thinking when we returned our engine in a temporary coat as 2968, and why it's now in the paint shop for the full hit as 13268.

Interesting approach in that for some overhauled locos (60532, 2968, 60007) undercoat/plain livery has been applied to start with, yet some new builds (32424, 6880) are going for full paint job before first steaming.

I think where 6880 is concerned there would be a lack of time for paint post testing!

Any smoke signals from Tyseley yet? Would be nice for it to get a few test miles ahead of the Spring Gala..

I posted a link in the 6880 thread, but in an article on Heritage Railway's website about it going to the NNR, there's a picture of the loco painted and lined out at Tyseley taken last week, but nothing about it having made any movements so far.
