That is interesting as are there not more Northern trains in the schedule (no guarantee of operation on the day) than when this trip operated before.

It should be possible to cross at Nunthorpe at 1315 and 1815 giving a couple of hours in Whitby. A few years ago the timings on the return had to be massaged a bit to fit in with the Esk valley and TPE trains. But that is one of my favourite tours, recommended.

Comes close to the Blyth trip that maybe I'll get to go on this time.

But has now disappeared from their website, including the booking pages.

Disappointed the February Cotswold Venturer's been replaced by a Bath and Gloucester SE via Westbury. At the moment there's only one CV in the programme; and that's on the busy August Bank Holiday Weekend, Saturday 24th, with Clan Line with a Victoria start/end.

Well I did manage to make some bookings on the Whitby Flyer before it disappeared off the website. Curious…

A Pembroke Coast Express and a Swanage Belle have added, both hauled by Bahamas.

I wonder if they are looking for an alternative date ? Since there would have been two trips on the 23/3, in the same part of the country requiring 3 locos from Carnforth pool and crews.

That had crossed my mind, seem to recall ‘The Whitby Flyer’ wasn’t the easiest itinerary to operate when 61264 and 48151 did it five years ago. Hats off to RTC and West Coast for contemplating giving it another go, if indeed it does get re-dated.

Very tempted to do the Pembroke Coast Express, a possibility to add onto Clun Castle’s 1Z48 recreation the week before but will have to see.

Another working for Bahamas has been added, Manchester Piccadilly to Holyhead via Altrincham and Northwich on the 25th May. The tour is also a commemoration to Steve Peach.

I wonder when the NYMR is starting up to Whitby. I guess it's all a bit tight at Whitby if there are two steam trains to accommodate?

Some interesting required track there, taking into account Stockport-Northenden Junction and Hartford-Chester via Delamere. Missed out on the 60163 run a few years ago. All in a good cause, too. Consequently a bit of a bind regarding doing the first steam to the end of the branch on home turf in around 11 years, or this.

Easter I suspect which is at the end of March next year ( although in another thread it was stated they are likely to operate the Feb half term), so the 23rd March made sense.

NYMR first day in March is 23rd March so maybe that is the root of the operational issue that RTC have encountered

    I've just booked onto this.

I believe this is the first steam tour west of Carmarthen since 5029 did the same trip to Pembroke Dock on 31/08/2014. Can anybody confirm this?

Whitby Flyer will run on the 27th March. Still no sign of any tours featuring 60103 at the moment.
