Ahhh. Shame. Maybe someone will show a bit of artistic licence sometime to further upset the purists. Ditto it would still be great to see 60532 in blue even if not historically accurate… it did carry 532 and LNER on the tender for a lot of my childhood so it's not been a bastion of canonical colour-schemes in its preserved life.

So in the best tradition of NP "livery froth", 60532 could possibly be LNER Green with BRITISH RAILWAYS in full on the tender: or for maximum implausibility, that bluish-purple with red/grey lining, as per Walter K. Whigham.

I haven't got my copy of "The Big Four In Colour" to hand in order to check.

Think LSL are pretty much a 'BR Green' house and i would be surprised to see anything else...

    Would that apply to Bittern?

The exception that proves the rule... BR Green would nt be strictly correct with the full streamlining... but it wouldnt bother me. My personal preference would be to see LNER Green on an A4 but only because there isnt much photographic of that and its not been seen for 70 odd years...

How about silver, as Silver link, after all for a short while Bittern took on that identity, and it would stand out if outshopped in that livery, with the full valances
For Blue peter, i would love to see it in LNER green, only because, if outshopped in Br green, and Tornado was the same livery, both would look alike, whilst not strictly authentic, having different liveries makes some sence,

Good thing Bittern doesn’t have her full valances anymore, then…

Maybe given the popular response it had on SNG, perhaps Bittern could be turned out in Wartime Black? Could easily return in LNER Blue, but I doubt it.

I think if Bittern and SNG are running at the same time, it would be good to have them in different liveries.

Is there anyone who would argue that the full valances are not the most iconic form of the A4 class?

Maintenance staff could possibly use another word when having to work on them ;)

Dunno. My view was heavily influenced by the model of 60016 Silver King I inherited from my brother as a child. I prefer them without.

Never ceases to amaze me how a thread about a specific loco can quickly turn into yet another livery debate........

Not especially quickly in this case: we're on page 38.

Quite impressively a livery debate about an entirely different loco though!
