    And why is that?
    Pendennis the only visitor?

Putting a second guest to one side for a moment, getting Pendennis alone won't be a cheap endeavour. Two lorries to transport it from Didcot to SVR, as well as the cost of getting it out by rail from the railway centre to the loading point, it all adds up! I would expect it to make its money back, but given the costs involved, having just two guests seems like a smart decision!

Especially when you should have 7812 back and a nearly new 4930 as well.

Maybe have a look at this this thing called ‘the news’ hate to sound sarcastic but I also find my wallet tends to scream in pain a little bit when I take my bank card out these days.

Sometimes I don’t think you understand that moving these huge pieces of kit around the country isn’t exactly like just taking your latest acquisition from Hattons, Hornby or Bachmann around to your mates house for a running session on their layout.

Why can't people be polite on these things? By the way, that's not sarcasm. Perhaps, you should have paid more attention in school. That was an example of sinicism, by the way.

Because some posts are heavy on “self-interest”, and light on “real world” considerations!

Well, how little you know me.
I may come across as living in a fantasy world but I do know how many £££££ it takes to get an engine or two from Point A to Point B, especially what distance the lorry has to travel or mainline, pending on what it is.

If railways so wish to only have one or two visitors because of the financial crisis then it is up to them.

I do know we have a cost of living crisis happening and I do know that a lot of leisure activities are suffering because of people having to use food banks, turn heating off during busy periods, being extremely careful with how much they spend on day to day things and how wages just aren't leveling up with the cost of things such as gas, electricity, petrol, insurance etc.

We tried that but patience has run short when someone adds nothing new but a list of WIBN on every gala thread and like Copper-Capped says light on real world constraints. Could raise a balloon its so light.

There is also the SVR's financial woes in particular to consider.

Everyones is TBH, but yes, in a sense, I get it, money's tight, cack happens.
This is just to be clear, I don't live in a fantasy world.
I just choose to not particularly think about it, that's all. :)

Put it this way, this year is make or break for a lot railways. The above attitude surprises me as I am extremely saddened the railway I moved 200 miles to be closer to could face an uncertain future.

It does seem you are mainly focused on seeing your most ideal engine at a railway and lots of them.... as per your comments on the GCR Gala thread. My comment on that thread was be thankful for any gala put on after the dire few years we've had whatever engine is booked to visit, I will amend that to be thankful for the railways we have now, because and it pains me to say , we may not have them.

WesternRegionHampshireman in the nicest and kindest sense possible, could you please think before you post...

Whilst I try not to think about what’s going on at the moment, I do however notice what’s going on in my wallet when I do things like my shopping.
This also happens to affect my hobbies, those things that are nice to have, not things I really need like food on the table or a roof over my head.

You say you don’t live in a fantasy world but you must be in a lucky position when you all your thoughts and posts seem to be about what loco is attending what gala and why isn’t something like say 43106 doing a farewell tour to railways x, y and z.

Rather than plan fantasy events, some of us are involved in planning real life events involving things like profit and loss, we really can’t afford to get these wrong because it really will affect us, our livelihoods our loved ones and our businesses, I really don’t think your aware of that.
As @kieranhardy has said, please just think before you post.

All we need is 6880 and 6024 and we've got ourselves a gala!

Does anyone know the latest on 6024?
Someone did say to me that current state of the infrastructure might preclude a King at moment.

One guest loco is enough for me. Better than no gala at all.

Quite a few years ago someone in Bewdley P-way did tell me during an extended visit of 6024 (1997 I think)
‘it knocks the track about a bit’

6880 is making good progress but I doubt April is a feasible target when we've already ticked over into February.

    Point very much taken. :)
In future, I will think before I post. :)
I will also say, hats off, to those who do plan real galas, putting up with muppets like me must be aweful - On a brighter note, your hard work isn't unnoticed, I thank you for organising many wonderful, dare say, unbelievable events in the past, present and future. :D

6023 was OK and 6024's been on a diet!
