See it, say it... Sorted! That phrase will forever be ingrained in my head, thanks to Northern Rail!

Does it matter? All it has to do is equal the design projections and if the Trust has been a little conservative in its projections then it is following in some very famous footsteps. It is always good to under promise and then over deliver.

Dont think it matters much, but it is part of the Mission Strapline... and due to a difference in wheel size the power curve will peak at a different point to a Princess Coronation e.g ' Building Britains most Powerfull* Locomotive *( upto 56 mph, currently in working order)

Very much so. I really enjoy meeting him at the Roadshows and saying that I wish him well is far, far less than sufficient.

Indeed, could be argued that Prince of Wales is an Elliott rebuild of a Gresley design, great achievement and, at some point, legacy.

Ummmm.... what's happened with David Elliott? And please don't say "watch the video" or whatever.

David has revealed that he is suffering from stage 4 prostate cancer. He seems to be dealing with it very pragmatically, but it's very sad news.

Thank you for that: I wish him well. His contribution to so many modern steam projects is inestimable.

I am very sorry to hear about David Elliott's illness. I wish him well. I was fortunate enough to to attend a talk he gave at the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and very very impressed by his ability to answer technical questions in detail without notes.

It's awful news, and I am so very sad to hear it. David is one of preservation's most inspirational figures, a real icon of our industry in terms of design and engineering.

Indeed not a very good situation. I spoke to him once, arriving at the works, and he remarked I looked flustered. I explained I'd had to swap a wheel due to a puncture on the A1 and thought I was lucky to be alive with the HGV's flying past. We then had a little chat about the P2, and he came over as thoroughly decent and knowledgeable gent. I join others in wishing the best for him.
