Again, that's not what we've actually said - you've chosen to read into what we've said and focus on one tiny part of it. What we've said encompasses far more.

Also, in case you hadn't noticed, there's a cost of living crisis going on right now. Sometimes cheap is better because expensive is unaffordable. That's the economic climate we live in

Well go and give the 4253 crew a leg up - they are doing something that is not cheap. Win, win.

I was being glib but I finally read the chairmans note and saw it plainly there. Thats quite the turn up for the books.

Back in the 50s and 60s, perhaps ..... More recently, he'd have bought all the 09's he could've laid his hands on and my guess is there'd be more than the odd Pacer kicking around.

I'll just get my coat .....

My dream industrial for the KESR would be the Maerdy Monster.

It's only about 7 tons heavier than an Austerity.

There is another rather significant difference.

I know we are in a crisis, then again, like all crisis, it will blow over eventually and life gets better.

But while within the crisis, decisions have to be made that ensure the railway is able to get through the crisis to when life gets better on the other side. That's good management

Sadly, it looks as though Jessie may play no further part in our Santa running. The locos for our after Christmas running are slated to be Swiftsure and Sapper, at present.

You have quoted no2 in the list of meanings from a Google search.
If you had looked down to no3 you would've seen this:
    "NORTH AMERICAN
    schedule; plan.
"London shows are slated for late June"
    • nominate (someone) as a candidate for an office or post.
"I understand that I am being slated for promotion""
I think most people would understand this term.
