I agree with the sentiment, but to be fair to VT, the Shakespeares do not usually have a diesel, nor did the Lickey trips last year.
It will be interesting to see if the Marches trip next year with double-headed Castles will be planned to take a diesel. If not, I might be tempted.

Yes that's correct. Clun pulling a rake of pullmans with a 47 on the back. The Castle was working nicely with the diesel dead on the rear.
This seemed like an attractive itinerary to me. Peterborough to Lincoln, across to Newark and then back to the start down the ECML. I would be up for short trips like this in preference to the day long marathons. They could do two in a day.

Don't think their new website helps, it's not exactly clear when the trips are, or that there are now extra booking fees.

I do wish they would look at running trips from elsewhere other than Tyseley on occassion.

Okay it's going back about 10 years now, but team up again with GWR in Bristol, or LNWR there to use Barton Hill, even the WSR or Didcot, and run trains from elsewhere. They use Transport for Wales' Cardiff Canton to service the train when it visits Cardiff, would it not be possible to use there or Barry overnight? Maybe it was easier when they used West Coast? I guess they aren't as big as an operation as them or LSL.

7029 Clun Castle on the East Coast Main Line - filmed at Newark, Peterborough Station and Helpston - along way from my usual standard of filming - very gusty winds!

Any ideas why they took such a roundabout route from Tyseley to Peterborough and back, rather than via Nuneaton, Syston and Oakham?

A shot of 7029 at Frinkley Lane on Tuesday. It was a close run thing with both the sun and the Azuma.

Do the VT locos carry a modified oil lamp that complies with the NR requirements to have a high intensity lamp?

Its difficult to tell in pictures, but they often seem to have one traditional looking lamp illuminated- which I *assume* complies?

If so, is this a similar set up to 60163's lamps which have been converted to LED.

Furthermore- (non VT I know....) has Clan Line had some of its Marker lights converted- as she appears without the big plastic lamp?

    Regards

    Chris

Thanks. The light was mint at her booked passing time but a late running Azuma delayed her by five minutes, just long enough for the sun to drop into some cloud. Resigned to yet another poorly lit shot, spirits rose as she approached because the sun began to reappear but then we heard a northbound Azuma coming and spirits fell once more. Fortunately the Azuma cleared just in time and 7029 tore past in cracking light. Sometimes Lady Luck does smile even if she teases you a bit first.

The OHLE supports frame the shot perfectly.
