Sadly I wouldn't bet on it. They've even dropped off the pace on facebook in the last few months which used to be much more reliable...

Communication full stop is zero at the moment, both internal and external.

I can confirm the B1 is now in the shed (centre road with two of the small steam locos which have been very long residents now outside) along with the 31 (which has had its roof removed to allow work to happen)

With the arrival of the latest Main Line magazine I see "The Forward Fund" leaflets have been distributed. They look professionally produced. At long last it seems to have been agreed for some of the South's style and fundraising success to be directed towards the "other half" of reunification, something badly needed.

I have been rather unimpressed with some of the official releases previously coming from the North so I'm hoping things are starting to change with recovery and success to follow.

I really hope the initiative brings prosperous results and a brighter future for the railway.

I too was very pleased to see that the GCR(N) and EMRT were getting a very good coverage in Main Line and the open day at Rushcliffe Halt was a big success.
However in the "Forward Fund" flyer the image of the A60 bridge in the centre spread has been made a mirror image so is transposed Left to right. Compare it with the correct image on P12/13 in Main Line.
Never the less, I am looking forward to the day when a "Lengthy train" of Windcutter wagons rumbles North over the (previous) gap and A60 bridge!

Nice to read that the GCR(N) S & T crew have been making more progress with the Hotchley Hill signal box.

Sorry Ian - I am not good at getting links posted but there is a suitable link in post 216 P11. (I'm better with spanners than IT)

There is another update on the S&T blog showing how new flooring is going into the signal box. This was over two weeks ago so I'm sure there will be another update soon.

At least the S&T and "Cutting Edge" sites prove that some things are actually happening north of Loughborough, as you'd never know by looking at the EMRT or NHR websites !
Don't think anything has been posted on the EMRT one for well over a year now.......

TBH very little has been said to volunteers either - the lack of communication is not limited to websites. I want to be supportive of what the board are doing but, and I don't generally like complaining about things that aren't done well on a forum, but aside from a couple of periods where they've been quite on it, communication has been so incredibly sparse since the new NHR Board took over about a year ago. It's making me very jealous of lines such as the Spa Valley which really seem to have their communication to members and the general public nailed to a tee. Plus the lack of communication makes it incredibly difficult to be supportive of what the board are doing because they aren't communicating what they're doing!

The new A60 bridge decks were installed last weekend:
(more videos of the preparation on the same channel)

There are also a couple more S&T updates, still reflooring Hotchley Hill box.

I see an Urbex person has done a recent video of the southern end, shows how quickly things deteriorate and EMRT have done absolutely nothing to the line south of Bunny Road Bridge

Sad to see the viaduct vandalism to

In the meantime, there is continued progress with the Hotchley Hill Signal Box. It now has a new floor virtually completed with new joists and floor boards. Details on the S&T website.

I really hope the GCR (N) can forge a way forward and that the re-unification proves to the be the thing that re-invigorates the line.

I remember going to the GCR(s) when I was in the region of 10-12 years old and we got taken for a walk round the shed and the storage area at the back (where Manston was at the time.....) and being told by the volunteer who showed us round that joining the 2 bits would "never happen".

    Its close........

It isnt even remotely close. The only thing thats closer is Loughborough sucesfully pinching the main line connection off of Ruddington

Nothing at all is being done about joining the two lines up and its obvious from the proposed route meandering around the shed that there is no plan to run anything like a proper railway north of Loughborough Central.

Reading the latest copy of Main Line, the challenges seem to be as much north of the Loughborough chord as in the section being reconstructed.

What do you suggest the GCR do with regard the formation at Loughborough?

The options seem quite limited without relocation of the MPD, for which there needs to be an alternative site?

Whilst still awaiting my copy of the latest Mainline, am I to take it from the above conversation that there is as yet no announcement from the GCR about their plans for Loughborough to Ruschliffe Halt?
