It was indeed Tangmere but being heavily pushed as normal. Considering the weather conditions that was always going to happen.

With nothing booked off Clitheroe in front of the Northern Belle I gave myself plenty of time to drive over to Wilpshire. Then I was held up in roadworks for 10 minutes; I should still be 30E. I had decided to try the over bridge beyond Wilpshire summit. I parked, checked RTT as I left the car - 26E off Clitheroe. I rushed up to the bridge and began to open up my tripod when there was a "shush, shush, shush" sound and Tangmere appeared at the distant bend. No time for a tripod, hand held would have to suffice. By the time I had switched on the camera the loco had shut off, was already through the station platforms and on her way towards the summit. 29E, 19C, no sun, dull cutting and 40 seconds of wobbly video. Just one of those days! I managed to lift a photo from the video (just to show that I was there).

No. 34067 'Tangmere' working the 'Northern Belle up Meal Bank towards Grayrigg and on to Carlisle with Mick Kelly driving, Martyn Soames firing and Roly Parker Guard crewing north and south

To the haunting sound of the whistle 'Tangmere' works the return 'Northern Belle' slowly through Garsdale remembering the passing of Michael Middleton two years ago. RIP Sir and thoughts go to the family

Even though Tangmere was assisted due to the weather conditions it was nice to see her able to pay tribute to the family of Mike Middleton.

It seems that Tangmere has been in a LMS depot for too long and picked up 'Stanier cough' unless the drain cock was left on deliberately. It's certainly not something that Bulleids ever used to suffer from.

Drain cocks are all linked together Al, so unless it has become uncoupled then it’s got something jammed in it. BTW is hi viz and shorts this seasons gricer chic?

The 47 exhaust seemed a little uneven too with a nasty cough - Carnforth Cold perchance ?

Just a thought - 5305LA have said (to my puzzlement/concern) that they intend to replace 777's drain cocks with some of an LMS design. I wonder if Carnforth have done this on Tangmere?
