    Work continues on GWR 216 with all the droplights now in cherry red gloss. The next stage is to fit the side felt to them and insert in the doors. Meanwhile all the other interior jobs (draught excluders, door posts, picture frames and upholstery) continue to progress. After this the waistline beading will complete the carriage externally aside from final brass fittings.

    Meanwhile we are busy at Abergwili Junction and are clearing the site of the carriage shed as a contractor has now been appointed and will be moving in before the end of the month. The work involved will be a new access road, car park and the foundations for the carriage shed and is expected to last for several months.

    regards

    Matt

    funds are for the Abergwili site; and the works compromise the following

    construction of an access off the A485 road into the site ;

    Construction of the car park ; and

    foundations for the carriage shed.

    The aim with the site is to have a new access point to the railway, a larger car park and the new carriage shed all up and running next year. Over time we plan to expand the facilities further.

    regards

    Will there be a loco shed at AJ or a loco stabled there? Or is the plan to run a loco light from BA to collect carriages and form the train at AJ?
    Thanks

    Loco shed will remain at Bronwydd Arms due to proximity of hospital at Abergwili and the fact we have set up the MPD facilities there.

    Thanks Matt. I know it was there but didn't seem clear. Is there a webpage for Abergwili developments? Because I'd follow that.

    Thanks Matt. I was thinking of the 'webpage' more ephemerally like a blog.

    Looking at the plan, it appears there might be space fora second platform there. Is that in the longer-term plan?

    yes the plan shows two platforms, currently the down platform is built and used but the up platform is still to be built. Probably won’t get done in this round of works.

    Looking at the Abergwili future plans include a train shed over the platforms? Or am I not looking at it right? If I am looking at it right it would be an interesting centre piece one day.
