Always there nowadays I am afraid. Nothing to do with fire risk. Even the run to Swanage in 2011 was DL free. 48151 was the extra loco and 9th July was to and from Yeovil so no DL needed

Yes but I remember when the DL came off at Wareham and why not 31806 instead of a DL?

Is 31806 available ( can Swanage spare it) and could West Coast crew it ? So many drivers have retired and I have seen that many new ones.

Hopefully not a repeat of last year's climb out of Weymouth with BIL.

I’d love to see and hear a certain CME/Loco owner from Lancashire’s reaction to that ;):)
As ever though my stock response to anything concerning 35028 is ‘You can set the tea by Clan Line’

It’s a bit late to start rearranging the tour on the evening before, just to eliminate diesel on the back!

We're ready and waiting with the water tanker already in situ at Salisbury.

The only way to manage a diesel free WAT/VIC-YEO-WEY-WAT/VIC trip is to use two steam locos with one of them based at Yeovil to do the YEO-WEY and Upwey bit. That needs more crews, a second steam loco and would have to be priced at £150+. As it stands today's trip starts at £130.

The art of the possible, I guess, even for a significant trip.

Yes but worth the money. 31806 is advertised for 21st July but I bet it doesn’t happen

I suspect the query was about whether it could have been done earlier as part of the planning, rather than now. It's what the Dorset Coast Express does (although who knows this year?).

The return trip up from Weymouth looks a far better prospect than the down run as apart from a shove up Upwey, there is nowhere else where any rear end assistance would be needed. From Dorchester, diesel driver can put his steed into neutral and read his evening newspaper and let Clan Line get on with it with the bonus of a race up the mainline via Wimbledon. Happy days!!

Here is how is was in 2012 as Clan Line races through Woking on the return anniversary special. Hold on to your hats!!! Wonderful experience for me and for those passengers who simply could not believe what they had just witnessed!! Even forgetting to stop recording brought unforgettable comments from those whose never expected to see, in 2012, a steam train racing through Woking station!!

Ooops, but presumably not caused by '28 if you're affected by it. I'm surprised you are on it given your earlier comment. Edit - RTT shows only a 2 minute loss of time at Hook for the tour.
