By the time they do let it go, will it have been repainted into GWR green with cast no 4 cabside plates :)

Apologies, I'm unable to link it as it was in a private group but there have been photos appear on Facebook of Marica in steam around Rolvenden yard.

Found it in a non-private group searching through Faceyb. Considering a recent post from the 4253 seemed to suggest it was missing the entire cab front, there must have been an active push this week on it. What a handsome livery that Dark Blue is.

The boiler went into the frames on the 16th Feb. The test running started yesterday. That's pretty quick!

    Dates for your diary.

As part of the ‘Best of British’ celebrations over the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee (2-5 June) , the weekend will feature two-terrier running on the K&ESR for the first time in some years. ‘Poplar’ (Bodiam) No.70’s first public train after overhaul will be the 11:30 from Tenterden on Thu 2nd June (available for pre-booking shortly) and both terriers will be out through the weekend (details to be announced). A special train for Terrier Trust / K&ESR members will run earlier in the week.

    Hooray! Do spread the word.

Further details of ‘Terrier 150’ events on the special website.

(Subject, of course, to Matt Green getting the painting done in time…!)

Knowing Matt's love affair with Terriers, I'm sure he will do his best to see it completed.

Is that Poplar arriving home, Robin?

Poplar / Bodiam passed its 'out of the frames' steam test at the NNR on Thursday 17th.

    Let reassembly begin!

Just looking at this image, and noting the position of the dome and its closeness to the joint of the outer wrapper, I wonder how or if it would be possible to recreate an original A class 'style' boiler which had the dome sited further back?

The KESR has taken delivery of Mk1 BCK W21245, which it has purchased from Riviera Trains.

Can we trust it'll appear in traditional K&ESR 'house colours'?

It has just been confirmed that ex-LNER J27 number 65894 will be visiting for 6 weeks over the summer.

    Excellent news!

Yes, someone made a rather oblique reference to the J27 under the "steam locomotive hire availability?" thread but it was good to see it confirmed in the members' newsletter yesterday. Speaking as a southerner, locos from the NER and L&YR have a certain exotic quality about them as they come from so far away, so after 52322 and 51456 visiting the Spa Valley, I for one am very pleased at the prospect of a visit from another northerner to look forward to - probably the first NER engine ever to come so far south and I think I'm right in saying it will be the first NELPG-owned loco to venture onto former Southern metals. It would be good if it wasn't the last!

Hasn’t 69023 taken few holidays where the sun comes soonest? Thought it visited Swanage in the early ‘90s? Or am I confusing things?
