I'm pleased for the Strathspey Railway, and I hope nobody bears them ill - if the NRM are doing stupid things, at least another railway can make use of their redundant kit.

I read somewhere recently, maybe Heritage Railway magazine, that the NRM will get a new, upgraded workshop for overhauls and servicing as part of the 2025 project, but that it'll no longer be open to visitors to view (a massive shame in my mind). However, if that was the case, I'd find it odd that the NRM would choose to sell all their machinery rather than put it in storage. Can anyone clarify what is actually happening?

Upgraded is the wrong word. Since the NRM have stopped doing major locomotive overhauls in-house they no longer need such a fully equipped workshop.

Well, the NRM's loss is your gain... Glad to read that they've gone to a very deserving home!

    Richard.

Ah. The implication was that they’d still have the capability to do that, so thank you!
