People who are complaining about the high ticket prices should probably try and watch a TV programme called "the news". This might provide a bit of background.

We are lucky it’s all steam. East Lancs have rationed steam due to the coal situation.I have no problem with£40 for what is always a quality event

Precisely. Try dipping your hand into your pocket to buy coal at present assuming that you can get it and of the right quality.

Another problem for potential passengers is the cost of fuel to drive to such events.

I'm hoping that I'll still be able to attend but if the total cost is unaffordable then I won't be able to. <BJ>

Yes I fear that may become a driver of the decision to attend galas (plus hotels if a long distance event) more than the ticket price.

With the right timetable and set formation, this should become a very good gala. Personally I don't expect a 10+ coach Pines like the previous Autumn, especially as Linda/Dave isn't rostered as they where needed for pilot duty's to make it work, but who knows perhaps it be a Autumn gala thing. But considering what the website suggests, we wont have to wait long for the timetable.

Personally hoping for a good long Goods set and perhaps a short parcels set could be made (2BY, PMV+ box)

I think the choice of both visitors by loco type makes the gala attractive to the enthusiast

Not sure I can work out what actually happens at Alton on for instance Saturday 2857 in at 1130 and out at 1120. Same with 506 in at 1309 and out at 1300??

Loco comes off the set in the loop outside Alton station and comes onto the set in the station.

Couldn't agree more! It nearly always seems to lead to late running and it's incredibly boring being stuck in the loop at Alton while you wait for something to appear to drag you into the station. But what do I know? Like Don I'll be there anyway - it's a good loco lineup so well worth the trip.

2857 was in Ropley yard today receiving attention from the cleaners. The loco faces Alresford. <BJ>

48305 touched down on Mid Hants metals today, so looks like all is going well. :)
Although I would love to see a picture of 2857 and 48305 in Ropley yard! :D

I guess we don't know which way 506 will face when it comes back from the Severn Valley. I can only remember it facing Alton but I suppose that could change.
