Matt, while I don't want to over egg this one, the point I was making is far too serious to be trivialised as above. Not so many years ago we had a volunteer crushed to death between a locomotive and a train because he unwisely went between the two. They were no further apart than is seen here and he too had his back to the loco. The recommendation is that you do not go between vehicles (or a stop block) that are less than six foot apart for good reasons.

That said, we've all on occasions put ourselves in a position that on reflection was not a clever thing to do. The last thing I want to do is have a go at the guy in the picture because he could be any one of us in an unguarded moment. However there is a safety lesson for us all here and IMHO it is an important one.

DSCF0044.JPG OK folks enough of the castigations. Here's another of mine from the Tanfield Railways 2018 Legends of industry gale. The monologue on the left hand van dates back to the days of the Harton Colliery system in and around South Shields a quite compact but also extensive system in and around the town. Which also was one of the first partially at least electric power networks in the country.

Edit: On closer inspection. Yes the Guy in the background is out of focus. As i was taking a photo of the wording on the van, rather than the Guy sitting on the platform.

As today is National Love Your Pet Day, I’m sure @Britfoamer won't mind a non people picture.
This is Pickles, the Steam Dreams Mascot, who often accompanies the support crew on trips:

I remember that trip very well! You don't get Rail Tour stewards like that anymore. Great day out with 46115 on top form. Two Railtours running that day: RTC to Weymouth with 46115 and a SD excursion with 30777 & a Class 47 double-headed. Those of us on the RTC trip had the far better deal that day.
