    AN interesting selection.
    12/45 21C119 is at Dover Marine, not Victoria. No 3rd rail and the footbridge is the same as image 34/45.

    Don't know why this "Leader" machine you speak of is the only Bullied Pacific thing to be considered Ugly, I think all of his Pacifics were ugly, as well unnecessary and a complete waste of metal.

    He really hit the nail on the bonce when he built the Q1's and his quite sturdy coaches, honestly such a talented man wasted on some hyped-up passenger engine.

    Perhaps you need to bear in mind the conditions when the locomotives were designed and built - the start of WWII and the appreciated requirements for military movements at major docks when the locomotive stock was short of current requirements. Bulleid introduced new concepts to his designs and whilst operating conditions proved some ideas impractical the locomotives met the required need for additional more powerful locomotives. Admittedly the later Jarvis modifications improved these designs beyond measure but it is fair to say that the modifications to the Pacifics (both classes) were made to a good basic design.
