    Deal!

But simply being dismissed with out explication is pretty rude TBH. I’m not bothered if people are new old or somewhere in the middle, I would just like other people opinions or at least acknowledgement of a point rather than the cheek being turned if I point out something the hard line supporters don’t like.

So having hard a few bits in bobs and point being made regarding the running of AGMs etc what’s your opinion? Do think questions need answers?

    Talking of non-sequiturs...
I don't know about different pages, but we seem to be on different planets. Guess I'll have to look elsewhere for answers. Still, can't say I didn't try.

Errr. There’s an entry dated 30th Oct which announces……… the annual members meeting on 13 November. Oh, and the opportunity to ask questions.

Perhaps the opportunity may arise on the 13th, as I just read a few minutes ago?

If not, then there’s no official record of the question or the response!

I guess it might be difficult for people who can only afford to come to Devon for the AGM won’t get the opportunity to have their voices heard.

Oops. It appears I fat fingered the wrong quote and got carried away in the moment. Apologies @Mark Thompson, my comment here was for something @35B posted.

I take your point on the chin regarding reliability. It’s true this is only a general discussion forum. I try as far as possible to back up what I say, hence my lengthy post surrounding planing and my mention of Grampian Conditions. There’s also the info surrounding the ‘red line’ C*** up which cost more than a few quid to rectify. And there was the letter circulated Ann B. All good and cogent views which can’t be dismissed as simple diatribes.

Nothing is solved by posting on here all the actions (or inactions) that people associated with the L&B are unhappy about. Neither will it help the greater good to take this thread into the dark territory where a different thread for a heritage railway in Somerset has already sunk.

If you care about the L&B then you need to use the proper channels and contacts to raise any concerns and seek answers. There is also the private messaging route or independent email systems to share specific views and avoid posts on here being edited or removed.

Big AI. Firstly might I say a very mis opportune header name. AI it implies your Google choosing to censor free thought free speech. Debate . No we dont all agree , but we are not slashing each others throats . Like with that other railway in where was it there are very seriously negative things going on I wont expand but I know without reading that thread exactly what is going on and who is behind it and what .. its about big players and potentially big money . ( The dark forces )
However on the L&B the ability to debate was removed back in 2010 if you read the L&B archive on here RNP its all documented mainly by me V the responders noting has changed so its still as moribund as it was !! 10 years ago and the evidence of late is for all to see and read .
At least on here a few working members can have a debate and a few armchair readers can read ,learn, comment . Isnt that what this platform is about any more .
The board of the L&B wont learn until they listen to what the members and funders have to say and that is intentionally blocked at L&B meetings. So very few turn up .

The title of this thread is "Lynton and Barnstaple - Operations and Development". Precious few of the recent posts have anything to do with operations or development but all to do with internal politics. I suspect that I'm not the only one who reads this thread to hear positive news about this great little railway so perhaps those who wish to discuss the internal politics of the L&B might like to create a new thread......please!

And what are potential supporters going to make of all this negativity? Mud sticks.

Actually, IMHO there is positive news - read for example about the recent work at Chelfham and the forthcoming plans for Bratton Fleming etc.

Operations - there has been quite a bit about operations, both past, present and future. Indeed, it is impossible to talk about such things as the TWAO and Phase 2A without considering how it will all be operated.

Development - likewise. Sadly not all 'developments' may be good news, but they may have an impact on the railway nonetheless. We can't simply ignore them and continue to look at the railway through rose-tinted spectacles. That is what has happened elsewhere, only for people to 'wake up and smell the coffee' when it almost too late. I am NOT suggesting that the L&BR is in that sort of state, but there are sadly far too many instances of 'problems' on heritage railways in this part of GB for us not to be keep a weather eye open to ensure that we do not go the same way.
