ELR has announced the fair well to 60009 details on the website, days in use and trains involved:

More dates than I was expecting, could be a good year after all and a good (sad ) start to 2022

Has there been any indication as to where she might be going when the ticket expires?

Is the plan for retirement in Fife now off the agenda?

I think the planning situation has all gone quiet, even if they are getting there you aren't going to get PP and build a museum in 18 months.

Can't remember if it was on this forum or in a magazine there was talk of Falkirk offering shelter in one of their sheds. Whether that is long term or stop gap your guess is as good as the next, or if it's correct.

Had hoped to catch a ride being number 9 yesterday as originally advertised, but I understand from a member of staff that she is poorly and very tired. There were some test runs earlier in the week, but issues remain and she wasn't considered healthy enough for her booked turns this week. No further details given I'm afraid.
80097 was herself a late substitute for our round trip after 5643 was pulled owing to 'watering issues at Rawtenstall' on first run. To try and regain time she swapped with the standard on the dining train. It was hoped 5643 didn't spill the soup as she apparently isn't the smoothest of locos... The chaos was being treated with good humour by staff!
The late running had more or less been recovered by time we left and I enjoyed my first visit to the East Lancs since before the pandemic - always a friendly welcome.

She was taken off on Thursday on the run to Rawtenstall at Bury, due to a Leaky Regulator Gland according to one of the crew on the footplate.

I'm told she was up and running again on Friday but not over the weekend. Stand to be corrected.

There was a post one of the Facebook groups, on Thursday night, from one of the Fitters stating that No.9 had been fixed, but wasn't available over the weekend due to staffing issues.

Usually an owners rep is present when in use.

Had no idea of this as the engine was showing to be working on the East Lancs website. Arrived saturday morning to find a Standard 4MT in place of the A4... rather disappointing considering the charge down from County Durham to be there.

A few clips from the weekend featuring LNER A4 No.60009 at the East Lancashire Railway, running alongside LNER A3 No.60103 'Flying Scotsman'.

Is there going to be another opportunity to see these two running together on the ELR?

I believe is now rostered tomorrow -Fri 3 & also Sat 4 as part of Flying Scotsman weekend but not Sun 5. There was some doubt earlier in the week due to availability of both loco and loco reps.

Update from ELR unofficial website now advises 60009 Fri, 34092 Sat/Sun. Subject to availability/change.

I’d been told number 9 was running Sunday as well. If she isn’t, that’ll save me a long drive.
