These days I guess it would be useful if the advanced info (for any railways gala) mentioned the travel basis of the gala. Is it the (original) MHR/ (current) SVR model of locos coming to you or an old style "free for all" gala.
If people are planning to book accommodation it would be useful to know as some may still not feel happy with an old style gala yet.
Currently to me equally as important as what visitors may be planned or the number of locos planned to be used from the home fleet.

Based on what appears to be happening for this weekends Goods event (and the September diesel gala) it seems to be "old style" and not limited to one rake of coaches, not that they have got round to publishing the t/t for the weekend yet.
Will see what the "Railways at Work" one is doing when I turn up at Loughborough on Saturday morning........

Shame this is on the same weekend as the WSR ASG (and MHR ASG). GCR & MHR were always the following weekend.

Yes - is it is shame. Reminds me of one year when I couldn't make up my mind whether to go to the MHR or GCR. I'm usually only free to go on Saturdays. Finally decided at 7am on the Saturday morning - the GCR was the winner on that occasion. Not sure about this year yet. Waiting to see the full loco lineup for both galas. Won't be going to the WSR.

I'm going to the WSR but not the other two.

Unless situation changes fast, think I'm going to pass on my planned visit on Thursday. Very hit-and-miss where I am atm and messages that motorway forecourts are closed. :-(

I managed to fill up on Saturday at the local Morrisons - but I still had to queue for a while, even at 06.35 !. Having been to the Mid Norfolk event Saturday and EATM at Carlton Colville yesterday I certainly wouldn't have enough to do another 300 miles on Saturday without another refil, so I'm going to see how things go. On the runs over the weekend, there were an awful lot of shut garages on both routes, or road-blocking queues at the few that were open, so I'll see how I get on on the two occasions I venture out this week.....
East Anglia seems to be one of the problem areas for supplies at the moment.

The timetables for the weekend are now posted on the GCR website.
After having to wait 45 mins this morning for the tanker to clear off from the local Sainsburys, at least I can get to the Gala on Saturday now!

A very good varied timetable there. 9F double header will be popular I imagine. Also nice to see 68067 rostered for the a few Sub runs

The weather doesn't seem to want to play ball for most of the event from a look at the BBC forecast (although it keeps changing). Looks like Sunday is going to be the best day weatherwise, with no rain forecast.

Is it responsible to run a gala event when road fuel is under severe pressure even for emergency services ?

An interesting point being made by Garth Manor, but the government wants us to just buy fuel normally. It has been a crisis because people didn't buy normally and so millions of cars have been filled to the brim.....just in case. So, if you were normally going to any gala - to park and travel on a train, isn't that better than driving around looking for petrol stations?
