    Hi Davo
78019's chassis is in the shed and just awaiting it's boiler from Tyesley....due in August I believe. There should be a big swap around then I expect, as there are two boilers to go back on frames at least.

"Just".......Well it was to indicate only one item is needed...I do realise that then a LOT of hard work by many people is required to get it complete and into service. Nevertheless Lbro shed have a good record of getting the work done.......and the aim is to have 78019 working with 78018 and 46521 at the Autumn Gala Sept 30th to Oct 3rd according to "Main Line" #187.

You'll have to forgive me, Phil. Part of my own background comes from manufacturing. You know the sort of thing .... assemblies, composed of sub-assemblies comprising their own sub-assemblies and so on, right down to those components where bitter experience demonstrates that too often for comfort, constants aren't and variables don't!

Best of luck with the timetable for the 'standard'. Damned useful locos all round.

As of Saturday 7th Aug, the boiler was still at Loughborough, there has been an unexpected delay with the Std 2 boiler at Tyseley apparently.

Any chance of 70013 boiler heading to Tyseley before the end of August for its front boiler tube plate and is the front tube plate already been fabricated ready to fit Phil? Is it just that 78019 boiler needs some final work before returning to Loughborough?

Engineering has always had more than its fair share of Sods Law. It's always there just waiting to pounce. Perfectly normal.

I don't know, but I suspect that 70013's boiler will go to Tyseley without waiting for the other boiler to be finished. There are 7 chassis in the shed now (Oliver C, 04, Black 5, Boscastle, Thornbury, 78019 and 8F)....and the 0-6-0 industrial.

Quite a undertaking job then Phil if theres 7 different locos under various stages of been overhauled at Loughborough MPD at least if the standard 2mt boiler is refitted at a later date it takes the work load down to 6 good luck.

    Every cloud.
Having a Britannia (and a Duke) chassis without a boiler on it available to mosey at has been rather handy for the Clan team...

Very wise of them to make sure the PLC didn't own it!

    Phil,

Your regular updates on 70013, 30777, 34039 and 7027 are most appreciated and please keep them coming! If I may make a request, is there any chance you could also keep us up to date on the overhaul of 45491? I presume things are progressing with this engine too and hopefully we won't have too long before the 15th Black Five steams in preservation.

    Hi John
I will open threads on the Black 5, 45491 and 04 rather than complicate the other threads.

Wonder if the 70013, 70000 people would be interested in new rear cylinder covers with a slide bar mount as being fitted to 71000 and later to 72010.

Thanks Phil. I've seen that you have already done this - plus another thread for 63601, another eagerly awaited returnee. Most appreciated. I will henceforth confine any further comment on or questions about the progress of these two locos to the relevant threads.

The boiler is still outside the shed but has been painted. I don't think it has had a quick trip to Tyseley and return....
