The once master location at Vigo has become rather a challenge these days with OLE and lineside grass, but for steam action it’s probably still worth a visit. The Scot seems to be having trouble with priming but the black 5 digs in. At least we were spared a diesel at the rear.

Almost home, passing Mill Meece where the promised evening sunshine had already disappeared.

Nothing like as spectacular as footage from The Lickey, but here is my video of the class 40 and the Bristol Forty return leg filmed at Searchlight Lane, just north of Stafford...

Wrong company. Saphos website shows the train still on sale with seats in First Class Compartments and Premier Dinning still available.

Sorry for the error,I confused two different threads which were next to each other in the index - guess I need a bigger phone or better glasses !
Just to clarify my post, the Pendle Dalesman originally listed for Tues 6/7 is now no longer shown on the West Coast website although the timings for it remain on RTT.
I will add something to the correct thread for that train later

Back on topic, still no times on RTT for the Fellsman on Wed 7/7 although as you state it is still listed on the Saphos website

Would the cognoscenti have any idea when steam last visited the mainly freight only route from Castle Bromwich Jn to Bushbury Jn via Walsall...as the return 'Bristol 40' did from Bristol TM did last Thursday.? I can't recall anything recently but what do I know?

34046 hauled 0638 Crewe to Kidderminster SVR .
Unfortunately 1728 Kidderminster SVR - Crewe was diesel hauled after failure of 34046.

    Cheers, Neil

I was over part of that route with K1 62005 on 23/3/15 en route from York to Tyseley for tyre turning. As a result of a derailment at Washwood Heath we were rerouted at short notice from Water Orton to Walsall and then via Perry Barr and Soho Junctions to pass almost unnoticed through Birmingham New Street at the hight of the evening peak;) - it was certainly a long way round but it got us to Tyseley in the end. At least the K1 is a fairly gauge friendly loco because I do not recall any thought being given by Network Rail control as to whether to loco had been gauged for the route or not, but we got through just fine.

It's the usual route that LSL locos take back to Crewe after leaving the SVR. For example, remember that charter that Braunton hauled to the SVR earlier this year and then she failed and had to stay on the SVR for fixing? That was the way she went back to Crewe, so I think that was the last steam movement on the line prior to this one.
