I thought the Moors had banned dressing up as Germans for the War Weekend?

Were I to guess, I'd say they could be using them as a screen to block views of whatever is being prepared for the filming job.

Hoo boy I can not wait to read the frothing comments from people upset they couldn't dress up as Nazis but NYMR could do this. Wonder how many wheelbarrows of Papiermark they would need to be able to turn up as their seemingly favourite side.

If you're talking hyper-inflation-era Reichsmarks, the wheelbarrows themselves would be worth more than all the banknotes one could cram in 'em. I doubt any UK heritage line would change currency displaying The Austrian Corporal's image .... well, not unless loo roll again became as scarce as it was this time last year!

Just to point out an error, the hyper-inflation era predated Adolf and friends - I've got some here dating from the days I used to collect banknotes/coins, including a 100 Million Mark note dated from 1923.....

Broadly tongue in cheek on my part. I've spent too long online and in punk circles to not have my ears prick up when people get all snippy about Nazi ephemera. Although I will point out a private shoot is very different to men who willingly and gleefully own uniforms. Much like the re-enactors who willingly chose the Confederate side.

.... and what about the Roman Legion reenactors? Or aren't we supposed to know about the war criminal Cæsar's genocide in Gaul? :Rage:

I've a passing interest in archaeology ('prehistory' being my bag), but on the whole, prefer living my own life to pretending to live someone else's .... but, hey,-ho that's just me! :)

I think Belushi was the last person to dress up like a Roman anyway.

From a NYMR group over on Faceyb

Is this development hypocritical? The reenactors dressed up as nazis do not portray them as the odious individuals in an odious organisation, In the film at least they will be portrayed as both, albeit in a comic book way. With Harrison Ford having aged rather a lot since the initial film, which also featured nazis, perhaps it would have been better to have set this episode in the reign of a more recent dictator - there are plenty to choose from!

This is of course not the first time a 9F has been altered to take part in a film. First up was 92203 which was changed to a "South African" loco, number 220 for Young Winston in the 1970's. This was filmed at Longmoor and features in David Shepherd's excellent Brush with Steam book pictured below.
In the early 2000's 92240 was used for the war film Charlotte Gray starring Cate Blanchett I think 92240 was supposed to be a French loco but the parts featuring the 9F were shot at night on the Bluebell Railway and included the destruction of the train 92240 was pulling (picture 3).
I think the only 9F that kept its true identity on film is 92212 which IIRC featured in Endeavour and Midsomer Murders. [IMG] download.jpg charolette_preview02.jpg

Wasn’t Henry Jones fighting those Commies in the 1950’s in the last film? (I thought it was dog crap btw)

Yes (and yes), so maybe a flashback? It makes the most sense given Harrison Ford being even older than last time and more noticeably as well (though big movie money allows you to digital de-age the actors).

Disney now owns Lucas Film who make the Indy films so there will be a lot of money available for this sequel.
Pictures that have appeared online show a stuntman wearing a young Harrison Ford mask which would indicate flashbacks.
I hope it is better than the last film which started off well but went down hill quickly.
With James Mangold directing (he made Le Mans 66, Logan, Walk the Line and The 3:10 to Yuma remake) I have some confidence that the new film will be more in the spirit of the excellent original trilogy.

Ah, that seems to confirm it then (probably clean it up with CGI a little).
Crystal Skull had some good ideas in it but the tone is way to wacky for me and the alien plot is far too muddled.

Jeez, they didn't bust a gut to do that, did they? Is it supposed to be in Europe?

You'd think a 9f would be an easy one to look a bit more convincing - red paint underneath, a set of german-style smoke deflectors and mocked-up extra dome or two
