I think it's fair to say it's looking promising for 5526 turning up - here it is out and about on test/training runs at the South Devon this morning:

That’s good but which trains it will be working is anybody’s guess in the absence of a timetable

Maybe the Mid Hants is trying to revive the old ‘spin and win’ formula popular on rail tours during the ‘80s and ‘90s?

Who's going to tell the person with the grease gun that 73096's tender axle grease nipples are dummy's  Its got oil lubrication, because in reality its a Jubilee tender frame ;)

The Young lady is using an oil pump to fill the axle box trays not a grease gun.

I see 35207 still has its Sheffield Park - Horsted Keynes - East Grinstead carriage boards, just to confuse the unwary!

So here's the thing about the upcoming gala.

The Railway says that it's 'working hard' to get its new website up and running. I'm sure that's correct but they have been saying that for too long now. Meanwhile they are pushing out their excellent 'In the Loop' videos on Facebook. Have they got their priorities wrong here?

What people need now is to know what the timetable is that they will run during the gala and what locomotives will operate on which trains. We don't need the website up and running just the basic information (above) posted on, for example, Facebook if they can't activate a bit more of the website.

If the timetable or the roster is not ready, which I doubt, then there is a problem. If it has not yet been confirmed that 5526 is good to go then that is also a problem.

This is not like the MHR. I do hope that they have not lost the plot at a crucial time for its supporters and customers.

We know exactly where the plot is, but thank you for your concern.

You will understand that a new website, email system, booking system, EPOS system and resulting hardware changes is complex and challenging. The website is under development and it isn't in our gift to make the supplier go faster no matter frustrating it might be that we cannot yet share information as we would like. These changes though will make a huge difference to our future, and we are indebted to the DCMS for the grant that makes them possible. Timing of the start of the project was also not in our gift entirely either.

I am quite certain we have our priorities right. Our priorities are safety, covid safety and the long-term future of the railway. I am sorry that at present we lack the resource to be effective in sharing the timetable for the gala, and it may be that we cannot get this out until early next week. I am sorry if that reduces the enjoyment of the event for anyone.

I received my booking confirmation by email so why can’t the timetable be sent the same way to all those who have booked? Or simply upload it onto this site? If it’s done of course which must be in doubt as neither of those things have been done

It’s not whining, it’s getting the information needed so that all those who have booked can get to the Gala at the right time and not all turn up at random compromising safety

It would be nice to inhabit for a while a world that was as straightforward as that.

Actually she is quite correctly using a syringe to remove any water that may be at the bottom of the oil reservoir in the axle boxes.....

Not quite sure I understand the concern about the timetable - it's not as if it's a line where you can only fit one or two round trips into the day. However, it would be handy to have some basic information such as what time the first train is (I don't want to arrive at 8:30 if it's at 10, or vice versa), and whether the car park field will be in use at Ropley.

On the Calender page where you book tickes it states 9am-6pm , which ties up with it being stated that similar to the Autumn Gala timetable ( but with loco changes at Alresford) where the first 3 departures from Ropley were as follows 8.45 to Alton, 9.30am to Alton and 9.30am to Alresford. Each loco hauled 3 round trips.

I take it 35207 has recently transferred to the Mid Hants from the Bluebell? Is this a sale or loan?

    You are still whining.

If your that upset why not contact the railway instead of whining on a forum.

You just like to have a moan and stab a railway doing it's best to put on a gala in the back.

I hardly think wanting to look after your own and others health at this time is "whining"
I will not be attending as I view it as too risky for me, but I respect others that feel happy to attend.
I have this afternoon seen my father who lives only 300 metres away for the first time since February 2020. Everyone has to view their own level of risk.
