    Thanks for the answers.
It's great news if the demand is still there.
I spy every so often on the webcam as am really missing my Talyllyn fix this year - my Merioneth holiday had to be postponed to next year .

We travelled 2 weeks ago and really enjoyed the journey. It all felt very safe.

Great answer, thanks for posting. I think the measures are entirely sensible and pragmatic. People will have their own perception of Covid risk, depending on their desire to scratch below the surface of the lurid headlines and stats. The risks to most people are very low in the context of a train ride. The wearing of masks is an emotive subject, they’re a visible comfort blanket and if people are reassured by wearing them voluntarily then fine, carry on on. Good luck for the rest of the season!

Helpfully, the Welsh Government have enforced a 'firebreak' lockdown, closing us for 17 days from tomorrow evening. We will cancel trains and the cafe and shop for the period. As long as Mr Drakeford and his Government don't change anything else in the meantime, we still plan to run daily through November from 9-29th inclusive. So if you haven't enjoyed your steam fix for this year, then arguably there is no better time to come. Good views, guaranteed sunshine and a friendly welcome (well two out of three!). Bookings open now on our website www.talyllyn.co.uk and 100% refund promise if we can't run.
We also have 'Tinsel & Turkey' trains (we'll try anything here) for the first three Wednesdays in December. https://www.talyllyn.co.uk/events/tinsel-turkey-trains
Finally - we will run (subject to normal caveats) 26th Dec through to 1st Jan 2021.

Good luck - our annual special was cancelled this year (evilbikers), but we're looking forward to next year.

As the 'release' from the Welsh lockdown coincided with the start of the 4 week English lockdown, we decided not to run our planned trains during November. We are still planning to run wednesdays and sundays for the first 3 weeks in December, and then the period between Christmas and the New Year - full details: https://www.talyllyn.co.uk/timetable

I have some notes to go with a photo and it says the station has a small signal box and an unusual arrangement where the up trains can go in on the up and the down trains can come in on the up and then go onto the down half way almond leaving on the down and gives the unusal condition of passing a train in the up having been in the up itself. Can anyone confirm if this was at the talyllyn please. It comes from my notes on Welsh railways which I am sorting during lockdown and have mislaid the dates and years and locations

Sounds like Abergynolwyn on the Talyllyn. It effectively means that trains can pass each other whilst using the same platform - necessary as there are only doors on one side of the train.

Does make for a rather long platform though!

Cambridge and Limerick Junction would be the obvious two on mainline railways

Ditto a fair few using Mr. Brunel's original ideas about BG stations.

Mr Brunel had many interesting ideas, I suspect he and Mr Bulleid might have got on well...

You'd have more room for ballast to balance the boiler...

A quick look on the cams shows a little life at Pendre at the moment, with No.2 in light steam.

Today (Wednesday 17th) on the TR Facebook page, there will be a live stream featuring a reenactment of when locos 3 and 4 arrived at Wharf Station from Machynlleth when they were purchased from British Railways in 1951. There will be a lot of discussion on the live steam from both TR/CR folk - as well as some footage taken of the CR in recent times.

You do not have to have a Facebook account to access the live steam, you can follow this link to the page: https://www.facebook.com/Talyllyn/

So if you are able to spare some time tomorrow morning, or want a lockdown distraction - please watch and enjoy! I am led to believe that the recording will be made available on Youtube etc after the streaming.

Watching the webcam at the moment, and it's nice to see No.6 has come out of storage and moved over to the main shed. If I recall correctly, about to go into her last year of boiler ticket?

The boiler ticket is in place until April 2023, so a couple of years yet!

Whoops! I thought it was sooner than that (when I visited last October, someone said she'd be mothballed for the year to extend the ticket - perhaps I just misinterpreted.)

Looks like refresher runs are being run today, with No.2 as the motive power.
