It is air braked. However, I understand that there are smoke and steam generators for effects.

I see the Mission:Impossible franchise is starting to get really niche in their latest plot devices ...

Wonder what will happen to it after the movie ends - with some minor modifications, you suddenly have a really convincing 1-1 scale model of a Britannia.

Or a version of 71000 with standard Walshaerts valve gear - 71001 Duke of Cambridge perchance?

Oh Fred, don't be so bloomin- reactionary. We'd lose a chance for a direct comparison between British Caprotti and Lentz* gear, or go the whole hog and give Cossart a go .... OK, maybe save that for 71002 Duke of Earl. Hang on a mo, I'm sure I've got the ten and a half million quid we'd need stashed somewhere .... :Hungry:

*and NO ... of course you can't compare a P2 with a Riddles Class 8 pacific. The very idea! :Woot:

The next one in the M:I franchise where Ethan explores the secret tunnels in Box?
Mission Impossible: The Strategic Reserve ;):)
If it’s a prop might it just go back into storage?

Given the wonders that the movie industry props departments can effect, I wonder if the best route to the desired £1.5m new-build Billinton K class / Craven 2-4-0 / Gresley V2 (delete as appropriate) is just to write a film script in which said loco design plays an integral, and operational, role. Oh, and find £150m to fund the film ...

Be careful. The film needs to avoid destruction of said prop, and to be to rivet counter standards rather than cinematic!

That's why I said write your own script ... How about (basso-profundo voice): "From the makers of Impossible:Mission and starring BESTT Academy Award winner John "Boiler" Smith, comes 'Counting Rivets', the touching story of one man's obsession against all the odds to recreate a life-size replica LNWR Precedent locomotive in his back garden. Steam Railway magazine call it a 'five star thriller'. Buy the soundtrack today on Pandrol records, including the Rolling Stones' Paint it Black; The Prodigy's I'm a Fire Starter and Jerome Kern's Smoke gets in your eyes."

Here is a photo posted on social media of the Mission Impossible Filming on the NYMR and also three shots of where the train will end up in a quarry. Looks like they are going to do a Back To The Future III ending with the train. IMG_20210422_232004.jpg IMG_20210422_232034.jpg IMG_20210422_232037.jpg IMG_20210422_232042.jpg

Don’t spoil the ending! We haven’t seen it yet! Seriously if my missus sees any of these she won’t be happy, She’s a big M:I fan. (For some reason she always gets annoyed when I point out the NSE branding at Victoria in the first one)
