91132 possibly one of the unluckiest locomotives ever has the dubious honour of being the first of the fleet to meet its maker.

Seems only yesterday they were introduced, I'm getting old!

Your not the only one! My brother had the Hornby model of it when it was first released. Our model railway could be quite modern in the early 1990’s. A Subsector 47, 56, 58 and 60, mainline 37/4 and of course my Hornby Mallard (in BR Green though!) passing through on a charter.
I wonder if it’s cutting up has the same kind of thought behind it as the quick disposal of 40126?

My wife'll be pleased - she's never been keen when I've noted 132 on a train we're on!

According to wikipedia only 91110 will be preserved for the NRM. All the other 91s will be scrapped. Guess the limited use of overhead power electrified lines they could be used on may be a factor. Battery power could be an option, but currently expensive and limited?.

To mark the 150th anniversary of railways coming to Peterborough, in 1995 91131 hauled a South bound service train and between Grantham and p'boro' it traveeled at 150mph. Afterwards a small plaque was attached to the side similar to the plaque carried by Mallard.
I thought therefore 91131 would be saved. Anyone know please what happened to that plaque. It seems to have disappeared after GNER lost the franchise.

LNER had intended to overhaul a number of 91s for the Leeds service but Covid seems to have put the mockers on that.

The last I'd heard, that plan was still on - but with the remaining 91s and Mk4s parked up for a while rather than running mixed fleets when demand is so low.

Sad news. As a young lad living within touching distance of the ECML (near Essendine), I remember being astounded when the first 91 was revealed. So futuristic looking at the time. I seem to remember watching a TV programme that covered the unveiling (possibly QED?).

Fingers crossed the plan goes ahead. Mk.IV seating is superior to Azuma seating IMO.

I remember some sets were earmarked for a new London - Blackpool service that should have begun last year. Not sure where that project is now.

I’d say that’s less opinion and more fact!

Must be true if it’s on Wikipedia. The RHC list must be incorrect ,then there’s the crystal ball as to future use in UK or elsewhere ,and whether any might be privately purchased in due course .

You mean the Railway Heritage Committee? Both it and Wiki say 91110 will be preserved at NRM.
We know 1 loco is to be scrapped.

Looks like I misunderstood the wiki class 91 entry?
10 or 12 locos to be overhauled for new LNER undefined service (Leeds or Blackpool?)

15 are in storage, some may be used by Grand Union for new services?. Railadvent says 2, 91108 and 91103, are striped of parts ready for scrap.
    https://www.railadvent.co.uk/2021/0...ive-set-to-be-scrapped-in-nottingham.html/amp

2 91 locos are used for freight trains.
2 are used for a test train.
