    (My emphasis added).

It wouldn't be necessary for the ELR section to be wired up. We already have hybrid overhead/battery trams running in Birmingham.

Similar situation exists at one end of the Hartz in Germany.

Put it another way: Other countries seem to allow common-sense decisions. Here we will have all and sundry debating the rights and wrongs before it goes for an H&S assessment, which will then more than likely kill off the idea as 'not safe or practical' after a 10 year 'consultation period'...

Now shown as cancelled on ELR website, due to non-availability of 60009.

Great News for the railway indeed!
The article set me thinking. What is the relationship between the East Lancashire Railway and the East Lancashire Railway Trust? I understand from the article that the railway leases the land from the trust but is the ELR a wholly owned subsidiary of the ELR Trust? There is also a ELR Holdings, ELR Light railway, ELR Preservation Soc. How do these all fit together?

IIRC the trust is essentially made up of the three local councils (Bury, Rossendale and Rochdale) and the ELLR Co (operating. Company), the councils own the land.

No mention of turntable. Wouldnt a triangle next to Belle vue terrace be feasible / cheaper anyway...

Is the triangle at Castleton usable by the ELR?

Reinstating the bottom bit f the triangle between the line to Heywood and the line to the yard? I've often wondered why they haven't? It'd be tight, but locos seem to manage the curve to Heywood without much more than some squeaking.

From what I'm aware, it isn't reinstatement, as there was never a line there previously -its far too tight and isn't a 90 degree turn, more than 110-120.
The triangle at Castleton is wholly within NR property, and turning there is apparently restricted to plenty advance notice and only moves on/off the main line when locos arrive/depart depending on which way they are requested/required to face.
