I note that "we estimate that a figure of £255,019 is required". If it's an estimate, quoting to six significant figures is a bit silly.

Look at the last 5 numbers of the estimate and the number of the deltic...

What a great time to be unemployed :(

Two years ago I wouldn't have blinked at bunging them a four-figure sum.

Wouldn’t finishing Tulyar off first be a start?

The fact that 55 019 is in running order is a big plus in its favour - just not mainline-ready. In an ideal world it'd be D9009 as that's already mainline-certified but rather broken and in need of big money.

The fact that there are three other locos out there shouldn't be forgotten.

Thought it was about time to join the DPS but annoyingly you cannot apply online. They say they want to get a younger generation of Deltic enthusiasts. They're not going to do that by still insisting on such old fashioned things as envelopes and stamps.

    GDPR?

Sell it as a "retro" experience and they'll be all over it ;)

Maybe that is closer than you think, but it isnt on a set of mainline approved bogies, and 55019 is.

Nothing wrong with Forward Planning, although they have disposed of the Steam Heat Boiler from her.

The part that intrigues me is overhauling 6 power units, that would take 10 figures, if spare liners, pistons are not available.

Thank you. I do confess to missing that. But it would have been better to say "We are aiming to raise £255,019" rather than referring to that figure as an estimate.

They're accepting donations on line so if they've got the GDPR sorted to process those, they should be able to process on line applications.
Not so many people have cheque books so there's then the security angle of posting an application complete with your card details. I wonder if they'd do it over the phone?

Once booked a footplate experience with Sir Nigel Gresley, at the Mid Hants, costing £600.07, something that was marketed without the owners knowing, and it never happened!!!

I seem to recall the purchase price of the original two Deltics from BR had the last five digits as their running numbers: £1550.09 and £1550.19 ring any bells?

    To a worthy cause though - 10000 :)

When I did my driving course it was suggested to me that the space vacated by the boiler would be where the equipment for all the future equipment for main line running would go - like ETCS.
