It has been twice referred to as copper in "Rail Mail" but I know no more than that.

Here is the view towards Loughborough station, with the 04 boiler on a well wagon. Lots of engines ready for work! DSC00349.JPG

Who's doing the boiler work now then, is it being done in house, or are Tyseley's engineers working on it at Loughborough?

I think that the GCR are doing the more of the work now, but it will still be going to Tyseley for the front tubeplate of the firebox?

Britannias have some copper stays in the first rows on the sides this is known as the breaking zone and is a standard item to replace every 10 years monel stayed up to a certain size everywhere else then copper is. Used

Thank you. There are some bright stay heads which can been seen on the front right hand side of the wrapper. There also appear to be a lot of new stays in the backhead, are these likely to be monel or copper?

I have done a bit of digging and the price of monel stays is eyewatering. It seems to have gone up a lot recently.

A quick visit to Lbro revealed that .......70013's boiler is still there!
Also present is the Austerity tank 68067 which was at Ruddington but has returned to have a bit of work done on its regulator.
7027 Thornbury's wheels must all be inside the shed now, the tender tank is sitting on a well wagon in the Quorn headshunt.

GCR Loughborough shed news page on FB shows images of 70013s boiler having its new stays knobbed over. It is still due to head to Tyseley later in the year for fitting of a new tubeplate I noted elsewhere.

Cromwell's boiler is still at Lbro. They are still awaiting 78019's boiler to come from Tyseley then Cromwell's boiler will do the return trip, possibly in Aug....delay due to C 19.

....the boiler was still at Lbro today. However the chassis looks fairly complete.
Sir Lamiel has its motion off and the 04 chassis was still being worked on, a new driving axle is needed. The other Black 5, no 45491 is still awaiting its boiler to be fitted. ........from what was a quick visit inside the shed.
