    Hi Neil,

A lovely selection of LN photos. A few locations to fill in gaps -
    5/70 851 Waterloo
14/70 852 Note that the 2nd vehicle is a TPO vehicle possibly ex LSWR
19/70 853 Stewarts Lane. Note the remains of the ac electrification on the Atlantic line viaduct in the background.
45/70 & 48/70 No idea where, but obviously a special working stabled "out of the way" in a goods yard away from a major station.
    47/70 and 69/70 859 Bournemouth West.
60/70 864 Between Millbrook and Southampton Central.
    62/70 865 Waterloo

    Cheers, Neil

I have added some new photos to the collection of Maunsell’s Z Class 0-8-2T
The SR Z class was an 0-8-0T 3-cylinder tank engine designed by Richard Maunsell and intended for heavy shunting on the Southern Railway, the first eight entering into service in 1929. It was a successful design and would have been built in greater numbers, but an order for a further ten was cancelled in 1930 due to the reduction in freight traffic as a result of the Great Depression.
As more diesel-electric shunters were delivered during the 1950s the class was gradually transferred to less demanding work at Brighton and Tonbridge freight yards. Towards the end of their working lives, the entire class was moved to the Western section of the BR Southern Region (BR(SR)), where their traction was put to good use in banking trains up the steep bank between Exeter St. David's and Exeter Central stations.
