If I recall correctly this guy is just another troll who likes to come on here to stir things up (as if things need stirring up on this thread!) I think he's been banned before. Probably not worth bothering engaging with him at all really.

I echo your views, but unfortunately, I think the current internecine warfare on the subject here and it would appear on the WSR itself, have reached the self perpetuating stage where no one is listening to those who actually visit and use the railway and who just want a decent well run railway that is worth visiting (and is hopefully enjoyable to run). It's a great shame there isn't some external body who can come along and bang everyone's metaphorical heads together

Were you present at the hearing or is this what you have been told?

I was there in person and what I recall was that the judge said he had no basis on which to adjudicate. It was extremely fortunate that such was his sympathy that he decreed that each party was to bear their own costs - I believe that cost to the WSRA was £18,000! I do not want to see such sums wasted again!

Are you suggesting that membership of the WSR or one of its associated charities should promote mental wellbeing? It clearly isn't working-everyone seems to be absolutely crackers, and the higher one gets, it seems, the further one becomes from reality

Please do not try and make me, or others, out to be liars. It is insulting. Thank you.

Quite! I don't think I am alone in finding my volunteering an immersive escape from the "real world" and it allows me to completely switch of from any worries or tribulations therein. Losing that would be bad enough, but to have it wrenched from me unwillingly would be even worse, and for the organisation to put down what you've done so publicly and noisily must be extremely difficult.
Anyway, I see 14 has become 9 has become 10, so the show trundles on. I dearly hope it all works out.

A clear and well argued statement.

The penultimate question in the FAQs is enlightening. I wonder if @rodders154 wishes to modify his statement regarding no pressure being put on the prospective trustees?

Either name names and provide proof, or keep your unpleasant insinuations to yourself.

The post you quote has exactly the same tone as some on the Facebook pages.

Attack the man rather than the ball.

The resort of one who has run out of arguments.

Yes that is what I meant, the same situation wouldn’t exist with the GWSR and most railways. Sorry if I confused things, my point was normally at other railways you are allowed a view even if those higher up disagree.

Having watched and contributed for some time we come back to the same point . This is about control of the WSR and its destiny

However this is not a black and white binary battle , as others are noticing there are sub plots which muddy the waters and I do not believe that amongst the main protagonists there is anyone who is whiter than white

Some are staking reputations and WSR futures on the current play . Merge the charities and you have a formidable body that could conceivably shift the balance of power on the railway . The PLC's unusually robust support of an in theory independent organisation probably reflects that . in Military terms I suspect the PLC anticipated a head on assault at the PLC Agm and have been caught by this unexpected pincer movement on a body they thought was an ally and given certain connections maybe felt they had influence over

One of the things that bemused me over the last eighteen months is that many Directors have left the plc Board and very few have replaced them

The Chairman rightly says the Board is under strength but it would appear there has been little effort to correct it!

The question I ask is WHY?
