I wonder if the WSR PLC will be in a future here come the sheriffs program, and they clamp all the plc loco's and start removing the desks and computers, from the offices,:) and the chairman gets arrested for trying to stop them .

I have the feeling the WSR will just about survive, probably thanks to legacies, larger donations from certain more affluent supporters. However, unless there is radical change - rather than a talking shop - those efforts will eventually become wasted.

Anyone dealing with the plc would be sensible to be a little suspicious!

It's only fair to point out that Steve Edge's site has several pictures of the work being done on 88.

    Somerset & Dorset Railway Trust

    Hello John,

The SDRT museum at Washford will be open, for possibly the last time, on
Saturday and Sunday 29th & 30th of August from 1100 to 1600. Members and
friends of the SDRT will be welcome.

As an additional plus point the Washford Inn has re-opened and has kindly
offered a discount of 10% on food for all those attending the museum. If
people want to spend the weekend enjoying West Somerset they can book one of
the Washford Inn's rooms by telephoning 01984 641633.

Social distancing and Covid-19 regulations will be in place so please bring
your face mask with you and give your contact details on entry.

As said many times, "88" is very much the shed pet engine and the team will be giving her lots of quality attention, ensuring that she performs to her best at her new home.

It's always extremely sad to read this about *anything* in the preservation world, but especially so when it's entirely a choice by a malevolent individual/board

and I think it is most people's pet - a shame the plc can't appreciate it.

I just hope those people who set this hare running, are prepared for the backlash,
I am convinced that the talks with the HRA etc were a distraction meant to try to take the heat off the board, but the decision had already been made. once 88 has moved to the MHR, and the museum has dispersed its collection, and started afresh elsewhere, how many people will be voting with their wallet and not supporting the WSR either by going elsewhere, or by not donating . ?

I can't give this a "Like" because it is so desperately sad....and, IMHO, all so avoidable and unnecessary.

true, The Chairman is right though, there is a cuckoo in the WSR nest throwing out the weaker chicks, and demanding more , its not the S&D Railway Trust, its the chairman himself, the trust has been at Washford for 45 years, how long has the chair been on the board for?

  14. This SDRT member will be there. Perhaps we should organise a farewell beer festival.

A visit to Washford and then straight onto Woody Bay or to Cranmore. Vote with your feet and wallet

Doubt the WSR will notice. We all know enthusiasts make up a small percentage of total footfall. I for one won't be boycotting that is for sure... more room on the trains at galas.. lovely jubbly!
Think I have only ever visited Washford yard once, back in 2008. While it is, possibly, the end an era for Washford, there's no reason the SDJRT cannot move onto better things.

So, clearly you have no problem with the morality, or lack of it shown by the PLC board ,

No, not really. Far worse things in life have gone on. I look forward to my next WSR visit. Wish I could have been there today!
