At some point whilst browsing the internet I saw some old photos of the NRM J17 at Bressingham in the ‘70s.

How long was the J17 there for? Surprised it moved on as being an East Anglian type Bressingham seems like the ideal place to display it.

One might have thought that the EARM or NNR would have made inquiries about it over the years!

Is it very knackered like the NRM Crab? It would seem to be a loco that ought to be a good fit on a preserved line but maybe it is a bit of a mechanical basket case?

    The
E4 is definitely one of the most deserving locos there for overhaul, in lner livery she'd look perfect at NNR and as the type ran on the line she'd fit in at Kirkby Stephen East perfectly.

While you guys are arguing about who gets the E4, I am just going to slip out with this.

I wouldn't mind seeing it back at Cambridge, shunting the 387's and 700's but then I wouldn't get any work done!

Could we then have the rest of the Stour Valley line back as well, get the N7 out from Chappel as well and running over the viaduct to Marks Tey.

Does anyone actually know the mechanical condition of the J17 and the E4? (And indeed the J69)? I'd assumed that they were very tired, but had never heard anything definitively.
