The first Saphos 'English Riviera Express' of the year is due to run on Sunday, 26th July.
    https://saphostrains.com/journey/english-riviera-express-3

    Outbound timings: 1Z27 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C25741/2020-07-26/detailed
    Return timings: 1Z28 https://www.realtimetrains.co.uk/train/C25743/2020-07-26/detailed

The stock comprising of 5 chocolate and cream mk.2s and 5 blood and custard mk.1s arrived at Bristol today.
On Sunday the blood and custards will be at the front of the train.

Incidentally, the coaching stock was hauled today by class 47 D1935 in BR green, new to Bristol Bath Road in March, 1966. Welcome back. <BJ>

You say they’ll be at the front on Sunday, but in which direction? The stock doesn’t get turned at Kingswear...

Unless the train is turned in the next day or so the mk.1s will be at the front of the train departing from Bristol TM on Sunday morning.
They should also be on the front departing from Bristol TM on Wednesday with the Pembroke Coast Express.

Also when I said the mk.1s would be at the front of the train I didn't mean that the Scot would be pushing them. ;)

Sorry for any confusion James. <BJ>

Please can anyone confirm if this tour will be hauled by 46100 from BRI to KWR and back. I ask because the outward RTT is showing that the trailing load is 420 tonnes from BRI to TAU then increases to a trailing load of 455 tonnes from TAU onwards to KWR. Reverting back on the return leg. Could this be a traction provider change at TAU, that is on the outward leg Class 47 unattached and 46100 plus support coach attached. Thank you in advance for any information.

Nothing to suggest it won’t be steam throughout. Reckon it’s a glitch in the system. A minor one at that as I recall 60009 was changing to electric and timed for 125mph from Wantage to Didcot last February!

The publicity for the tour stated. "The train is steam hauled throughout by one of our immaculately restored pool of engines including: the world famous LMS Royal Scot Class, No.46100 ‘Royal Scot’ – West Country Class, No. 34046 ‘Braunton’ – Britannia Pacific Class, No 70000 ‘Britannia’ – LNER A4 Pacific No 60007 ‘Sir Nigel Gresley’."

Would be surprised there was a change.

Most likely Royal Scot or Britannia, as they went down to Bristol last Thursday.

Whilst I am reasonably close I would go to see 60007 but probably not the others as I already saw them on the DSR in the past and elsewhere in earlier times.
Today is wet and miserable but tomorrow looks to be a much better day. :)

There was a two tone Brush Type 4 on the back. The light was better when it was scheduled to arrive.

Main line steam returns to the west country!!

We were lucky with the light as we filmed Royal Scot crossed the River Avon soon after it's departure from Bradford on Avon.
A lovely sight. Heavy rain 5 mins later.

    Stock: 5 B&C mk.1s, 5 C&C mk2s, B&C support coach.
D1944 Craftsman at the rear (not pushing). <BJ>

Update: ''Please Anyone confirm 47 detaches and run around at taunton''
Why on earth would it do that?

I’m confused by this? The diesel is at no point on the front of the train. It’s on the rear to provide power to the train vice generator car.
