Here's an interesting bit from the article

So, has the Notice to Quit been withdrawn, or is it in the process of being withdrawn?

Sadly, I doubt so, otherwise I am sure that we would have heard publicly from the S&DRT on the matter.

Given the 'process' - whatever it may be - with the HRA is apparently now underway, I doubt very much that the Plc would pre-empt it conclusions by withdrawing the Notice voluntarily, especially as they seem to be unwilling to bow to the voice of 'public opinion' amongst the railway's volunteers and supporters.

I suspect you are reading too much into it. There's an HRA process going on around the S&DRT lease, so I think it is perfectly legitimate for the plc to say "it is in the process of being dealt with". The outcome of that process may or may not be acceptable to many of the people on this thread, but I don't think that invalidates the statement; nor does the statement imply that the means of dealing with the issue is inevitably to reverse it.

The Plc and S&DRT have just issued a Joint Statement on HOPS ! Hopefully it will appear on the web in the public domain soon.

To be frank, it does not really say very much or give any indication as to the likely outcome - early days yet - but it does sound as if some sense has finally been knocked into some heads somewhere, so hopefully more jaw and less war will be the new order of the day.....

    Fingers crossed :)

Far from it, and the making of the comparison demeans both you and those it applies to.

However, the information that broke yesterday does affect how plausible it is to believe in meaningful progress.

It SHOULD exist.... but I have grave doubts. I think that much of this is based on untruths.

Just checking @tracker , you are aware that most of the posts you're replying to are over 2 months old and were gone over with a fine tooth comb first time round? Generally if I'm behind on this thread by more than even a few hours sometimes I find replying is futile as everything's already been said and the party has moved on!!

Or perhaps the peppercorn rent for MH - BL is inadequate so eviction follows?

As the news of the groups loco moving to the MHR, has just been announced, I would imagine that eviction will still be ongoing,

I dunno, the press release also says "The PLC has indicated to the SDRT that it wishes to discuss the return of the locomotive to the WSR and to discuss funding options which would enable the overhaul, due in 2023, to be carried out as planned." Of course, that and some cash will get you a cup of coffee, but if the PLC really does want it back, that could be positive for the relationship.

The statement also said that, “The PLC has indicated to the SDRT that it wishes to discuss the return of the locomotive to the WSR and
to discuss funding options which would enable the overhaul, due in 2023, to be carried out as planned. The SDRT has agreed that a timely discussion would be appropriate”. I doubt that would be on the table if the eviction was a fait accompli.

To be fair to the SDRT, if they're still being threatened with eviction, would they relish the idea of returning the loco to the WSR, although they themselves would not be welcome?.

Depends, if they were taking it back for the contractual overhaul to a working engine you might even with a view to operating it elsewhere.
