    Is that a rigid 10-wheel frame or, more likely, 6-wheel + 4-wheel bogies/trucks?
I'm fairly certain I've seen US tenders on 6+4 trucks.

The clue is in the name, 2'3 T38. UIC notation: 2-axle bogie, 3-axle rigid frame, tender, 38 cu. m. water, 10 tonnes coal. As used behind 01.10 Pacifics, 06 and 45, according to Obermeyer.

    What about one of these.

Twelve wheel tender, and named after a power crazed dictator with a cult of personality who unleashed a reign of terror on his enemies real and imagined, but who was still blindly adored by his supporters. Oh wait...

see https://www.festrail.co.uk/appeal.htm. It would have been good to have seen something of this quality from the WSR rather than just "give us the money" together with a dig at the S&D

It cannot be used for anything else at present surely, service suspended and staff all sent home, rates holiday, legal costs the priority and to be fair this direction seems to have strong support, people are entitled to fund such if they wish.

You’ve done a really good job there of explaining why people shouldn’t donate to the WSR at the moment.

Would those of you who wish to bang in endlessly about the S&DRT situation please go back to the dedicated thread. Whilst many of us may not like the situation, I think most realised way back that NP has limited impact on WSR management, no matter how many times you repeat your points.

I do admire the fact that in times of world crisis, one thing in the world will always remain the same. This page is still bickering about WSR management and what they've done. Maybe I was hoping they'd be given a break whilst the board (or whoever) tries to ensure that the Company stays floating and that people would donate to avoid 'their' railway becoming mothballed - but no, we are still going on about the past. Give it a rest, look towards the future and if you can - then donate. If you don't want to donate for your worries that it may be used to upset somebody else, then give it to another heritage line as they are all in the same boat. The one mentioned a few further up would definitely appreciate it as all the staff bar a few have been 'furlough'(ed) and would no doubt appreciate it. Remember that the donation now is not for now, but will be for seeing the line through next winter.

Oh and if you can't say anything positive, don't say anything at all! [/Rant]

I, and I suspect others, have commented on the appeal because the behaviour discussed on that other thread does have a bearing on matters discussed here.

I have problems with giving to a “save the railway” appeal when the management running that appeal are pursuing a course of action that, without the current general crisis, appears likely to impose considerable extra costs on the railway that it can ill afford. If I donate to a railway, I want that to go to staff, maintenance, suppliers. Not lawyers and professional fees.

So perhaps donate instead to the ring fenced "Track Appeal" here: http://www.wsr.org.uk/

After all unless there still is a WSR this time next year, both physically and as holder of the T&WO, then all the debate, conspiracy theory, and conjecture will have been a total waste of keyboard time!

Nothing like simplifying things and ignoring the facts to make anyone who disagrees with you look like bad people.

People are quite rightly talking about a current situation - not the past (not sure where you got that idea from). The S&DRT have been given an eviction notice. That is a fact and is current. There are many people who disagree with this situation and believe is it symptomatic of poor management. That is what is being discussed.

There are people who would normally support the WSR, but because of the current situation with the S&DRT and other issues on the railway (such as no HR policies to protect volunteers or staff, others being pushed off working on 'their railway'), they feel that they cannot contribute to the railway as this would be tantamount to implied support.

Should the S&DRT and the volunteers just roll over, keep quiet and let these things happen to their railway? Because that is what you are suggesting.

See earlier discussions on thread for why even that is something I cavil at, or indeed through the WSRA.

Excellent! And you can add to that those like me who have contributed through the purchase of additional shares.
