There is a report about the move in the latest issue of Steam Railway which I bought today.

I have heard rumblings from several volunteers at the MHR that there is a bit of a shortage of serviceable coaches at the moment. This might explain the shorter formations in use last year during special events.

Can't see the timings for the Bullied coaches move on RTT yet, presumably has to be this week as the event starts next weekend.

Just having a muse, but it would be rather impressive to have 30925 and the two MHR based Bulleid coaches make the return trip for a certain weekend in September ;)

    Regards,

    Dan

It's a shame 41312 isn't mainline registered any more, it could take them back in a few weeks before the Bluebell's gala.

Ah, we can but dream...! Mind you, it could always be registered and towed in light steam with the carriages to get it there for Branch Line Gala.

Wishing the Mid-Hants every success with their Flying Scotsman event - if it is anything like the Bluebell's it should create a real buzz around the place, especially linked to the reopening to Alton.

    Regards,

    Dan

Is there a timetable for the non FS trains next weekend? I can see nothing on the website just reference to tickets to view FS and "a special timetable".
I had planned to have a ride on the reopened full line on Sunday on my way back from stewarding the Saturday RTC York tour but maybe I will just go to Didcot if no info is available.

Edit - just checked, that's only showing 29th Feb onwards. Can't see anything for next weekend.

Yes I witnessed 60103 with a single carriage cross the notorious Butts Bridge on the Mid Hants line around ten past midnight rather quietly before she opened up for the Alps.

There is talk on an MH Volunteer's Facebook page about shaking collecting tins around all the haunts where photographers and other freeloaders congregate to enjoy a free show. So long as this is not done in an aggressive manner I think this is a great idea. There are so many people who enjoy watching trains without contributing a penny towards the events. I hope a few volunteers from some of the groups get some plastic buckets ready for any of the many restoration funds currently open.

Does anyone know what time the re-opening train gets to Alton in the morning? Or is it top secret? :Muted:
There is a local paper report about the reopening ceremony tomorrow; 300 school kids supposed to be watching the first train near the new bridge and detonators to be placed on the track with a banner for 60103 to break through in the station:
