An update from the EMF https://www.erlestokemanorfund.co.uk/two-for-2020-appeal/
Work on 7812 is progressing well and it is expected to return in mid-2020. Repairs have started on 7802 with it hoped to return to service later this year.
There is an appeal for funds to ensure both locos can be returned to traffic this year (see link above).

The short answer is that 13268 will be ready when its ready, but we are HOPING it will see use on the Santas in December. No promises.

It rarely gets a mention, but the Stanier Mogul Fund posts multiple updates each month on their website with plenty of photos of the work in progress.

    http://staniermogulfund.org.uk/?page_id=109

The Engineering Services Manager's report in the current SVR News notes that the Mogul's boiler was due to have been finished last year but was top of his list of 'things in the definitely-not-gone-to-plan category'. I shall be very glad when the boiler is finished, partly because I like the Mogul and look forward to its return, and partly because 82045's boiler is next in the queue.:)

One thing I can promise is that, when she returns, she will be as good as a brand new engine!

The biggest question is clearly: when she does come back, will you be changing your username to match her?

No. As I said in another thread, I've been calling her 2968 for fifty years. That would be a hard habit to break.

And thirteen-two-sixty-eight is a it of a mouthful!

SVR going to have quite a fleet come the end of the year!

    In service now -:
    813 1450 1501 2857 6960 7714 34027 43106 75069

    2020 sees you lose 1450, but gain 7802 + 7812 + 13268 !

Guessing 4930 looking like more 2021, with 4150 and 82045 next ones out? Any word on what's to replace the Mogul and Hall in the works?

    7325

A five year rolling plan then follows with the requirement to maintain a balanced fleet size wise.

Rumours have it 7325 will replace one of either the Hall or Mogul.

As far as I know it is still planned to steam 4930 in late 2020 as previously announced; I can't see to the contrary in the latest SVR News (I have in the back of my mind that that the date is linked to lottery funding but I may be wrong). Apparently progress on the boiler at NSE in Stockton is going well.

Also from the latest SVR News, 4150 is due to move down to Bridgnorth in late spring so I assume it will go straight in the works when space is available, as the boiler is already in hand in the boiler shop. The Collett Mogul came out of the Engine House last year in preparation for overhaul, so my guess is that will be next in once another space is available. (Edit - as mentioned twice above while I was typing!)

The other returnee should be the DMU which has been red carded for some time with bogie issues. One unit has now been repaired and anther two are in hand.

    Additional info.

Also in works is Dunrobin[1], where Beamish issued in December a look ahead to developments over the next 12 – 16 months - implying a space in the works in 2021?

82045 is anticipating a first steaming "in the last quarter of 2021 or the first quarter of 2022".

1450 (boiler certificate extension expires December 2020) and 6960 ("2021") have been mentioned as going out of ticket. 2857 has a certificate till 2022 (SVR News). Next earliest date to traffic were 1501 (in 2012) and 43106 (intermediate overhaul in 2013 allowed a new certificate). Timing of new to traffic vs withdrawals will always be unpredictable but probably a net gain of one over that period.

As well as 7325, the other engine in storage (i.e. not in the Engine House) is 45110. In addition the Charitable Trust is fundraising for 7819, once its campaigns for Falling Sands Viaduct and 4930 are complete it will be interesting to see what is their next main project.

In the back of my mind is a comment that the SVR intends to have three locos in works.

All the above from public info, others will know far more

    Patrick

[1] Edited: Dunrobin rather than Dornoch as originally typed.

P.S. For completeness, last dates in traffic for those out 10+ years are:

    1986 - 4930
    1995 - 7819
    2000 - 7325
    2002 - 47383, 80079
    2008 - 48773, 45110

Patrick. From my knowledge, there is no immediate plan for 45110. She will stay in the depths of the carriage shed until a decision is made. Bear in mind she is a Holdings loco and the company will have put a large chunk of money in 4930, which hasn't run since 1986. The 5 last ran in 2009.

43106 may well be determined by the tyres rather than the boiler.

Do not forget 7802/12 returning within the next 12 months (subject to usual caveats)

I assume you mean Dunrobin rather than Dornoch?

4150 is looking more likely towards 2021 rather than the end of this current year.

    D'oh! Yes.

Thanks for the other info, I've no inside knowledge and wasn't trying to set hares running, just filling gaps from info as published.

The Holdings Company may also have to put money in for overhauls of some non-company locomotives under their running agreements, unless it has agreed other arrangements with the owners.

Noooo.... That can't be right! Just looking at SVR Wiki page and it has a list of the railtours 7325. Pretty sure I was on most of them. Can't believe the last one was nearly 22 years ago.
