Just to clarify, if indeed clarification is necessary once the text of the Pathfinders link above has been viewed, this tour is now postponed to an unspecified timing in 2020, and not August 2019. This is explained in the following paragraph that has been inserted into the tour description..........

"This excursion was originally due to run on 11 May was was re-dated to 3 August as D9009 Alycidon was undergoing repairs and was not going to be available on 11 May. However, although we had been led to believe by the Deltic Preservation Society (DPS) that D9009 ‘Alycidon’ would be repaired in time to haul to our train on Saturday, 3 August, we have recently learnt from them that this will not be the case and therefore we are cancelling the excursion on this date. It is hoped that The Harrogate & Humber Deltic Reprise will eventually run in 2020. Details will be announced once the locomotive is fully repaired and we hope that you will be able to join us."

Here is a good bit of news @Victor just taken from The DPS Website.

Hopefully, repairs to D9009 will also start within the next couple of weeks, due to monies received from our insurers. More information. Please keep an eye out for more detailed information over the next few weeks.

What was so bad that it got an insurance payout?

Generator and 6 traction motors blew, after an electrical problem, while on a Railtour.

Just out of curiosity I'd be interested in WHY it blew so catastrophically. Obviously the DPS are under no obligation to say why.............but they must have found the reason for it blowing

Elsewhere their has been plenty of speculation, varying from a lightning strike, to a overhead support wire dropped, that then used the loco roof to ground.

Main thing is the insurance company paying.

There was some speculation on the thread for that railtour https://www.national-preservation.com/threads/auld-reekie-3-03-19.1330970/page-12 but if any definite explanation was ever found we seem to have missed it here. Even though no-one was hurt it did cause significant delays, and that should be sufficient reason to want to know how to prevent it happening again.

The silence from the DPS is deafening..................but an update on how things are going would be welcome. The loco needs to be out and about earning money.

@Victor i have posted elsewhere that the DPS has reached an agreement with their insurance company, and repairs are due to start imminently.

More details are expected to be posted on the DPS website in time, hope this helps.

Just picked this up from DPS website @Victor

The work continues and there’s also the ongoing insurance claim in respect of D9009 to deal with. Hopefully, a clear way forward will be resolved by Xmas. Please bear with me for now.

Thank you for that, hopefully next year the mighty machine will be back in action.
At the moment I'm having to make do with the 68's and the V16 Caterpillar.:)

    Not good news :-

    31.12.19: DPS Board news
The DPS’ Mechanical Engineer, Alex Williams, has decided to move on and has left his post. Alex was so instrumental in the successful operation of our locomotives, especially D9009 which ran for seven years virtually trouble-free. Alex has been extensively involved with the aftermath of D9009’s failure on the rail tour last March 3. His Board colleagues wish him good luck in the future and hope he will remain in touch. In the meantime, Graham Clarke is acting Mechanical Engineer.

I think he left 'with immediate effect' 31/12/2019. There's more to that than meets the eye. I wonder where he's taking his expertise;)...........[IMG]
I also wonder how 55022 RSG is progressing. It's not too difficult to add 2 +2 .;)

Whatever...........I'm hoping Alycidon can be a runner by early summer this year.

If someone's offered him a favourable position, and a few more quid can you blame him? Shame for 9,15 and 19 but maybe it gives someone else a chance to show what they can they do. I wouldn't say it's all bad though, look at say the 50 Alliance they seem to be happy to share their knowledge with other Loco owners
