It doesn't use the Wandsworth Common side at all.

Is there a chance it's re-routed to Reading via GWML now?

Thanks. That's encouraging. So, where is it? The last report on RTT was 1007 at Clapham J, 15 late. Can anyone find it on OTT or Tracksy? I've not been able to, but I'm not sure what I'm looking for... It's supposed to be picking up passengers at Staines and Ascot. Might they be able to get to Reading by other service trains?

It's possible but Mayflower would be at the rear of the train all the way to Stratford upon Avon.

The passengers at Staines and Ascot must be a bit peeved by now unless they're on their way to Reading as you suggest. <BJ>

Update: 1Z82 still awaiting the road back at Acton Wells Jn. Not looking good. No other train blocking it's path.

Dragged back to Willesden South West Sidings by the looks of it, by 47804. Very odd.

Mayflower declared a failure. It was detached at Willesden West Jn as suggested by 5Z82, a headcodes now showing at Acton Wells Jn, and the tour will continue diesel hauled.

Oh dear, what a shame. That probably means Tueday's trip to Yeovil is doubtful, too. My sympathies to all involved

It's not been a good month for steam tours, has it? The only crumb of comfort is that, thanks to the Internet and everyone's co-operative spirit posting information, it's a lot easier to find out what's happening than it ued to be.

I was at Wokingham for this - about 50 people with young children out to see it, plus at least as many ordinary passengers. I told as many as I could, but the station was ...unstaffed! This is a busy station, even on Sundays, and it's appalling that it's unstaffed. Much disappointment all round but at least they hadn't got wet. A disaster for those boarding at stations not now served owing to the diversion.

Agree that's very poor no staff, maybe something to do with the strike?

Otherwise, isnt your post a bit melodramatic - the train was only booked to pass through Wokingham, not call there and sometimes I find that station staff know much less than I do re. passing steam trains! And no, not a disaster at all (although obviously disappointing) for Staines and Ascot passengers, because SD always have a member of staff at every joining station, and I am certain (although I obviously don't know) that they would have been directed to the following service train which would still have got them to Reading in ample time to pick up the rerouted, and late-running, charter.

My point about the staff was that, had there been any, an announcement could have been made - I was telling so many people the news that I went to see if staff could make an announcement. It was just very surprising that such a busy station was not staffed. If those at Staines, etc., were able to get to the train, that's certainly not a disaster, but to have to take another train to pick up a diesel working will not have pleased them, I'm sure.

Wokingham's station staff are nothing to do with the strike, which is by train crews only.

I feel for SD, who have been dogged by misfortune of late. Do we have any information on the problem with 61306?
